Can't find enemies on patrol
Well I'm doing a patrol mission and there don't seem to be any bandits. The first one I did was also a bit boring, wiht only one bandid group appearing. Is this intended or I am i just looking at the wrong spots? Moving up and down the road but not a single enemy in sight :(

Its not common but it can happen from time to time, I would recommend searching the map where you commonly see enemies to pick up these sort of quests. This is a bit hard since it does involve luck and some guess work.

I have done 3 full patrol missions without seeing any enemies whatsoever, following the roads through the settlement waypoints. Two missions were for the faction in the north, while one was for the Eastern guys. I've explored the areas around the roads with particular attention to forrests, mountains, etc.

I tried equiping some wardogs because the description seems to indicate they'll help track or scout, although the sentence structure makes me think this refers only to tactical battles. If these do impact footprint range / detection distance on the world map, how do the mechanics work?

Great effing game by the way, loving the world map update.

Go camp by a forest on the road that's not too close to a military settlement. They usually come like flies, especially at night.

You can go into the forest far from the settlement.there are so many enemies to attack.

different map, different experience.

Ah yes just realized maps are generated fresh for new games. Even the faction names / colors seem to get rolled again. Very cool.

Does party size impact spotting range or speed? I keep wondering what if any M&B-style mechanics made it across. I felt like I saw enemies more frequently when my force got reduced from 9 to 3, but that could just have been more people trying to pick a fight.

The thing is, you odn't have to kill them on the patrol route or even a road. So long as the enemies you kill weren't in an encampment, they'll count. You aren't guranteed any spawns along the route either. However, you do have 10 days to fulfill your contract. So instead of just doing one full route (there and back) then taking your paltry sum... you can go hunting for a few days. Go wherever you feel bandits (goblins and orcs count too) are the strongest and pay -very- close attention to tracks that leave the road. As mentioned, bandits like to hide in forests near any major road.

Are you positive? I'm pretty sure the 'kill them anywhere and still get paid" part was specifically patched out (6.0.14 or .13).

I believe niddhoger is right I always have to chase groups far from roads and can't possibly be considered the 'patrol route', I would call it wilderness, far from any city or towns, but after battle the kills are included.

Great to know, thanks :)

Do Wardogs assist with vision range or tracking at all?

Nope, just on the battle map.

Also all kills of enemy patrols count, not just bandits. For scouting, you can climb on hills/rocks to get a slightly bigger sighline and whitecaps for like 10x sight, at the cost of movement speed. my strategy for patrols is to locate bandit camps but not kill them so I know where the bandits will spawn from when I do patrols. That way I can get like 30 kills and make bank.

Not sure if it was a bug, but on my last patrol mission I stopped getting heads counted after awhile. They may have changed the whole "you have 10 days to find wandering enemies and kill them" thing... which wouldn't really bother me, as I have gotten over 120 heads before (it's way too easy to fight low risk battles for a massive payday). Anyways, if I can find another patrol mission I'll verify it, just thought it was worth a mention.

I had one where It didnt give me any heads at all which kind of sucked even though I should have had like 20
