Wiedergangers?
I did a search for Wiedergangers on the forum and nothing relevant popped up (somehow).

I fought a 27 round battle against 19 Wiedergangers. After they started rising, I started keeping track of the number I killed. I gave up the battle after killing 41 Wiedergangers. They just kept getting up. The first time it happened, I thought I had to stand on them, nope. That was a mistake, I lost a character because he fell off the cliff when the Wiederganger got up from underneath him.

How the hell do you win? Is there some trick to keeping them down? I think the longest any of them stayed down for was two turns.

LOL at falling off the cliff. I also thought the same thing, stand on em...nope they knock you off and rise again. You apparently have to just kill them quicker then they can rise.

If you chop one's head off, it won't rise again.

except you dont have the option to execute a corpse do you?

That's not as much an "option" as it is a game mechanic. Hits to the head(as governed by "to-hit-the-head" chance) can decapitate on a killing blow, cleavers/military cleavers have a special attack that will always decapitate on kill, characters with "bloodthirsty" trait (maybe, i think so, still waiting on the dev to answer) always generate decapitations with bladed weapons, and so on. I created a topic some time ago, where i detailed each enemy type and tactics that would most certainly work against them. I can try to find it for you if the search function fails you.

I've got 2 billhookmen with the +10 headshot perk and 2 wildmen with decapitate attack from thier cleavers. Seems to work well.

It does :)

Decapitation it is! Thank you all for your help.

No problem, in this game, every type of ennemy offers a different challenge. There is not one tactic/built/equipment set to deal with all the different threats ;)

They should usually each get up only one time and not all of them will do that. However, if there is a necromancer he will keep reviving them untill you kill him.

I think that may be bugged, i'v had them get up multiple times each unless i manage to decapitate them all or win before the next round starts and there was no necromancer around. I'm 100% on it because i kept standing my dudes on two of the corpses and they were getting up every round until i managed to take their heads. Maybe add in the option to decapitate the corpses at the cost of a full round? I mean it kind of makes no sense that we can't already do it, our mercs can plainly see that the ones that are not decapitated get up.

I have seen some weird behaviours as well, some may stand back up twice or more.
I have to check and pay more attention now that i know the dead should rise again only once ;)

Wait what?
Undead are supposed to only rise once each?
That's... not my experience at all.

Also yes to the suggestion that you can cut their heads off while they're on the ground, makes sense.

Missed the proposal :( yeah something like a regular attack with 100% to hit:
so that it keeps a brother half busy for a turn (light weapons) or a full turn (2handers)
EDIT: It should of course not count as a kill (berserker and battle flow :)

Okay, we'll double check on that

the zombies have like 2 lives so if you down them they will get up each once. If you chop off thier heads when they go down they dont get up the second time. Using the meat cleaver or the big sword weapon that has the beheading heavy attack to finish off a zombie will definitely stop em from getting up the second time. Another tip is to let them come to you and rest your men as much as possible against their never tiring attacks until you can hack all the flesh off their bones.

ps Ive never seen them get up more then once each so it must be some kinda bug for you sorry to hear!
