Pretty much, the only difficulty that gives the player any advantages is beginner. On beginner if I remember correctly you get a +10 to your accuracy on all attacks. Granted been over a year since I've played so might be misremembering.
Increases amount of enemies and gear of enemies which means you can loot better gear earlier, also higher chance for legendary gear because there are more difficult camps. Legendary locations like monolith are also the same at all difficulties as far as Im aware and don't scale. This is why peasant militia is the strongest lategame company for endgame content.
Oh. I wonder if that that Fearless/Iron Lungs guy would make fearsome sword lancer bro.

Starting chars are meh, but that's what BBEdit is for. There's no edit to the map itself, so I prefer to focus on nice maps.

peasant militia bros are probably the best that I saw today, barely good enough for me to consider using, map is also barely good enough for me to consider using. I'd at least fire the 4 worst bros.

seems like a good map to me, but was not happy enough with any origins start after checking it for every origin (err, maybe I skipped manhunter and deserter) to reccomend it for them. poachers have good bros but cold to the strongest faction. there is a citadel in the middle of the map and settlements go in a loop north of the citadel and another bigger loop south of the citadel.
Gladiators:
Lion: Iron Lungs, Deathwish
Bear: Iron Lungs
Viper: Quick/Surefoot (OH YAS)
Iron Lungs isn't really my thing but it's never bad, and Deathwish is kinda redundant on Lion, but OH MY.. That Viper has Quick and Surefoot. Mmm. Could lean into the Qatar or go Duelist Fencing Sword.
none of the origins I checked had great bros, but, the map has 8 harbors fairly well spread out. this includes two of the city states. in spite of the great water travel the water may get in the way in spots, and not all settlements have an easy harbor nearby. I have a hunch it may be a great trading map, but not sure.
Oh, and the golden goose is just north of Azim Shab, on the coast.
Main weakness would be lack of north port and just one smelter - but with amount of money you'll be raking in and abundance of caravans between city states you'll be decked out in named items fast.

harbors: 2northwest, 2southwest, 1 citystate south
nice concentration of settlements for the northern house, south more spread out.
best set of brothers I've ever found on a peasant militia seed I think (including on old versions of the game). my standard I shoot for is to find a good bannerman, 2 good ranged attackers, and as much good melee as possible, here are the brothers -
siegfried - good bannerman
Hjalmar, ralf - solid ranged by peasant militia standards
hartwig, dietrich - good in both melee attack and defense
anselm - don't worry about having to use him as fodder but may develop into a decent tank with some levels
reiner - good melee attack, poor melee defense, may have to put him on the front line early but if he survives he is a great 2 tile melee user
bernfried, geralt - could be useful fodder early on, consider firing one of them maybe immediately.
guntram, olaf, raimund - should be immediately fired for sure.
Map with very good harbors, easy access to arena/wilderness/big cities/citadels/tools.
