how to make a good shield bro?
i'm good at making alpha strike characters, i can make good dodge bros, adrenaline bros too, even defensive ones. that means you get a shield and/or indom, pop an adrenaline and then stay there for two turns and stall the enemy.

but i'm not exactly sure how to make a good all around shield bro, most of the time i make them so that they don't deal any damage, even though they end up having good defense. i have a quick hands build in my mind where you use hammer and then switch to a sword, but it will be a fat intensive build, and shield bros are already pretty stat starved. mace shield bros are the best all around shields i had up until now though.

It isn't something I do too often, since I would rather use a Duelist or a super tank and not something inbetween most of the time, but I have gotten plenty of good use out of shielded Hammer or Mace guys even late into the game. Hammer gets the best armor damage you can get out of a shield bro, and the guaranteed 10hp damage is also pretty useful for a shieldbro who isn't often doing much armor ignoring damage otherwise.

Can also try a Puncture specialist, but I'm not too much of a fan personally.

Shielded Axe, while normally I think isn't very good, has a pretty decent niche in the Holy War as a bulky guy that can one shot Conscript shields even if his attack isn't great. I've done it once. It felt good there, but against anything else (but Schrats) it just isn't great.

Shielded Cleaver can bring Whip utility to the table, and decent damage against enemies whose armor has been knocked down. Can also bring a Hammer for versatility but unless you duel mastery it is going to be very fatigue intensive.

What do you want to have this Bro for?
Pure "Shieldbro" would be a pure Tank from my perspective. So no dmg, Quickhands maybe to pull out the 2nd and 3rd Shield in Orcfights...

Put all in HP, MDEF and Fat (if Resolve is high enough) put them in your best Armor and let them Tank... its not magic and basically what you already have done.

Student
SB | Colossus
Rotation
Brawny
Underdog
Battleforged
Taunt
Indomitable
Recover
Shield Spec
Gifted

Is a good Perklist, used by some players who made Guides as well. Works fine. Does what it does, holding the do.... line.

i think i'll try something like nomad leader next, that means dodge/relentless + good ini + shield expert + a hammer or a mace. good shield combined with good base melee def and dodge means you can whack away relatively free anyway, without shield wall.

what do you think of dodge shield bros like nomad leader, but more offensive option?

I have 3 shield bros half tanks on my Frontline of my final top team. I call them half tanks because they have indomitable but not taunt. They all carry 1-h maces and a sipar shield or a named heater that has 60 durability minimum. Their design lets them throw down good offence and crowd control.

Base stats at 11 (Including any traits but not perks or other things like armor or arena)
Hp 65+
Resolve 45+
MAtk low to mid 80s
MDef low to mid 30s
Fatigue 135+

These values can fluctuate if they have good traits like iron lungs, etc

Perk order:
Student
Colossus
Pathfinder
Shield Mastery
Brawny
Rotation
Berserk
Battleforged
Mace Mastery
Recover
Indomitable

When leveling start with spear (<60 matk), then sword (<80 matk), then mace. Equip armor as fatigue allows to 300-300 gear or better.

They guys can shutdown unholds with indom, hold line in orc sea of tents with indom, cc chosen and prevent rotation with knockout, and get their fair share of kills.
