Sorry. I should have expressed that better.
The "Flail" skill that all Flail-types have still has 100% chance to ignore the shield bonus but it does NOT have the 100% to hit the head.
The prime use for a flail is to pound skulls over and around shileds so your really only look to the "Lash" skill anyway.
So haviing to take an entire perk to make a single weapon type useable is pretty lame. Especially as there is no other variation beyond the current three types. No polearm type or two handed style flail to use.
Unfortunately, flails are probably also my least-used weapon type, along with hammers. They just suck up so much fatigue so fast. I want to start using hammers a bit more as I transition into fighting more orcs, so that I can tear off their armor quickly, but I don't feel the same "incentive" to introduce flails.
yeah me too.... I'd like to know if they come in uniques too?
I've always wanted to find a way to make a beserk chain build haha
I like flails. You don't need the perk to have 100% to hit the head with lash (it helps because you ignore the shield bonus but it's not mandatory), with good melee skills you can snipe anyone with bad helmets and loot a lot more armor from human enemies.
Landwalker04, what you saw was a one hander Named Flail, some of them have longer handle than the basic one.
Oh well. Regardless of that, I still feel like flails don't offer me enough incentive to really use them much (especially because of being a fatigue sink).
I'm mulling over my ultimate group composition trying to figure out the roles to be played. Right now I'm at:
1 Sergeant w/ Longaxe
2 Archer/Pike (or Jagged Pike) Hybrids
2 Archer/Longaxe Hybrids
2 Shieldbros
That leaves me with five slots to fill, and needing to figure out a weapon for the shieldbros. Given that the shieldbros' primary job would be to tie up the enemy and take a beating while the rest of the group does their thing, maces might not be a bad weapon option for them.
Get a super tank powerhouse and equip him with a greathammer!
I'd just like flail to have an ordinary attack no different than the axe, sword, and mace and then have its shield ignoring attack be its second special attack at the cost of more fatigue. And keep its built in higher head-hit chance.
Hopefully I'm recalling everything correctly here. Correct me if I'm wrong.
