He makes a decent bannerman until he dies by accident some day.

Also: Monks have A LOT of good events or bring good options for many events.
Since babarians can trigger the "mess with townsfolks" event (or whatever it is called) the monk is really worth it there because his option there will 100% negate all the bad effekts.

It is like the tv-show vikings, they also travel around with a monk :rads:

I have heard that having *a* monk opens up an event (for the Northern Raiders) where you can bribe the least-angry angry faction to be less angry for 1000c or so. It apparently doesn't need to be *the* starting monk.

However, I haven't gotten this event myself nor seen it first-hand.

I find that he's pretty good at his job as a horn-tooter. He'll be outclassed eventually, but he helps you take early undead camps. My group is actually specialized vs. humans with injury-focused perks and whatnot, but he has been clutch for morale many times.

Monks are one of the best choices for being a banner holder. The one you get has 3 stars in resolve and none anywhere else. I pumped mine up with resolve, fatigue and health. He wears my Sargent sash, company banner, heavy armor with some nets and stands in the middle of my back line. I give him student, fortified mind rally the troops and a bunch of utility perks. Rotation, fast hands, recover, adrenaline, footwork, battle forged or indomitable.

Yeah that event is actually really cool, the only problem is the frequency for it to trigger is set lower than some of the other base monk events so the probability of it triggering is extremely low.
