Whats "normal" difficulty?
I like to play games on the "intended" or "normal" difficulty, and I wonder weather beginner or veteran is normal in this game

veteran is normal, BUT it's a tough game, so learning the basics in beginner is advised for...beginners......

Thankyou very much

I'd actually recommend starting with Veteran for combat difficulty. This is because on beginner combat difficulty you get an adjustment of 5 in your favor to all rolls (your bros have a better chance to hit, enemies have lower chance to hit). This can actually cause new players to pick up some bad habits in their tactics that then need to be relearned once they switch to veteran or expert combat difficulty. Setting economic difficulty to beginner and starting funds to high will help a lot on the economic side of things for someone starting the game, enough to give a decent set of training wheels while leaving combat difficulty on veteran. I'd also strongly recommend against iron man mode while you're learning the game, as a large part of learning battle brothers is figuring out what different enemies are capable of, usually by losing a bunch of bros in your first encounter with them, and having to often restart your campaign due to this (rather than just reloading) can get frustrating pretty quick for new players.

If you play on Ironman I would recommend to play on beginner.
Otherwise any difficulty is fine if not.

There really is no such thing as a normal difficulty. It's normal to find out what settings appeal to you the most by playing. :)

Personally I like vet / vet / high starting funds the most. Campaigns get rolling faster, but special enemies with great loot (like Brigand Leaders) are less common than on expert for longer. I like that because I have the most fun when my warband can handle easy fights reliably, but still has lots of room for improvement in terms of level and gear. Having less endgame gear to loot prolongs this stage and makes good loot drops feel more meaningful.

There's no such thing as normal full stop, re difficulty or whatever.

But then I guess you're not really after a philosophical discussion about what's real and true etc here so I'll apologise and duck out now...

Except to say, use the difficulty level you find works best for you, given play style, starting options etc etc etc etc ad nauseum.

expert is the only difficulty intended to play.

That's not true. There is no right or wrong way to play a game. If you're having fun, you're doing it right.

As an experienced player, you will find expert combat difficulty easier than veteran. Heron already stated the reason for this - you will fight harder enemies earlier which will give you better equipment earlier leading to your band being stronger overall.

But doesn't that lead to mega scaled up monsters later on that are impossible to beat? I dunno cause I am noob and just wondering.

No, they still cap out at the same level, they just get there faster

Veteran combat can definitely feel off and slow after playing expert. You can definitely start busting some camps earlier on with expert mode, if you can hack the early game, and even if you're not focused on that particular aspect of the game. I'm personally not a huge camp-buster, but I often find way more beatable camps on expert mode, just by accident, and take more down by happenstance.

And I also think you have to game the contract system more on veteran combat and really grow your party slower because you're not getting as much great loot to expand your party reliably to keep up with the enemy contract-scaling as you add more bros. In general, everything is slower on veteran combat mode. It feels very different.

Much harder to recover after a disaster on expert, though.
