Report a translation problem
I hadn't really thought about a gunner. I haven't used one before, so it might be interesting to build one and see what they can do. It's not like i won't end up building another polearm bro as a spare, so i can always rotate them around to see which line up suits me the best.
That's about what i did. I hired a bunch before i ended up keeping the 3 i have. That's the one nice thing about lowborn recruits-they are cheap.
In case of Necromancers and Witches i use two guys with very light armor, nimble and daggers .. they flank in and usually get the job done quite well ^^
I think poachers are generally the best option. Bad compared to hunters, but that's not an option, but better than what you're talking about. They have 47-49 ranged attack at baseline (shepherds have same ceiling but much lower floor), so with 2 stars they get into high 80s, and mid-80s with 1 star which is passable.
