Backstabber-perk for the second line

"hitchance in melee is doubled to +10% for each ally, including Wardogs, surrounding and distracting your target."

Does melee mean that the brother with the perk must be in direct contact as well?

Yes it does and it a must pick for them as chance to hit is their main stat. Also he often will have a frontliner bro counting as a surrounder

It is just the backstabber name is confusing. How the hell do you backstab with a 2 meter pike?? Haha

Well, the first reply is a bit confusing. Surround bonus is only granted if there are 2+ allies surrounding the target. So a polearm with Backstabber striking over someone's shoulder with only the frontliner in contact with the target will get 0 surround bonus and 0 Backstabber bonus. However, if there are two frontliners in contact with the target, the polearm will get 5 surround bonus with an additional 5 Backstabber bonus.

The polearm itself does not need to be in contact with the target, but he also doesn't count as a surrounder unless he is in contact.

Thanks. that with the surrounding was also a little bit unclear. So its very usefull in the shieldwall for the second line I guess.
