Game is tough, legends mod has a "other" kind of balance to it.
If you got a 100-200 hours in and you start to feel bored, consider using the Legends mod.
If "best" == "most variety", Legends is a better experience than vanilla. There are more backgrounds, perks, mechanics, build options, enemy types, and ideas in general. This is why Legends is usually recommended "when you feel bored" with the base game; if you think you've seen everything vanilla has to offer and need more things to play around with to keep your interest, it might be time to try out Legends.
On the other hand, if you feel like there's more to the base game you haven't explored yet, you may find vanilla to be a more consistent experience. Legends can be overwhelming if you aren't ready for the variety.
I'm sure people who've played with the mod more than I have could add additional color.
-Layered armor feature adds a lot of customization for your armor and helmets.
-Camp feature is great
-New enemies
-Other interesting features.
If I were a new gamer, I'd start with vanilla. After that with DLC's, and finally, if I want more, with Legends mod or Davkul rising mod.
Most games i'd totally say go mod this and that, but not this one. Although there are some excellent QOL mods for BB, I totally recommend a few vanilla runs first. Things will go horrible, but that's normal. Just use that thing you got on top of your shoulders. Lose a few hours of limited time, but you'll get them back later when you know what to do and how to.
Legends is for players who have a grasp on the game. I'll be honest here, did some game 1800 days back in early 2018 with all and content done, came back recently and felt like a meatsack. Went over to Nexus, saw Legends, watched a couple videos, realized i'm not ready for it.
Legends is outstanding, but ONLY after you have some knowledge of game mechanics. It really increases the learning curve, which you should mostly dedicate to combat mechanics at the start. If you start vanilla and find it hard, well, get better then consider Legends 🙂
I hear that with Legends mod I can meet a huge battles. Enemy squads 30-35 men and more? It's true?
