The performance is superb, the battery life out to be good since it runs the game really well, unlike a laptop I bought to play BB years ago that would lag on the world map like crazy.
My only true complaint is that my cloud saves are not synced (despite saying so on both devices). I have saves from 2 months ago, but not saves from today on my steam deck (pretty sure the new saves I create do pop up on my pc version tho). But I'm fine with having separate runs for different devices. Somehow this desync could be a personal problem, but I am unsure.
"Fast clicking" to direct your pathing, while also moving the mouse doesn't truly work the best, as it ends up panning the camera with a click and drag half the time.
It'd also be nice to have an easy way to scroll through your inventory/market, or also have a key assigned to leaving the shop screen. Additionally, the ability to cycle through abilities with a highlight on the abilities like a console game would be good, but assigning # hotkeys does exist and the clicking of abilities isn't too inconvenient.
Edit:
The only existing issues would be:
Edit again:
Where do you download these? Haven't figured that out yet. My self-made layout was ok, but not super convenient.
The one I use is the one by Ryan called Battle Brothers PS4 Controller, I've only tried the default and dev0 Battle Brothers, but Ryan's does the trick for me enough so far.
On another note; if you hit the button with the three dots on your steam deck you can pull up an on screen keyboard or hit STEAM button + X, it will allow you to type where your cursor is targeted, but deleting text doesn't seem to work (backspace).
I also changed the DPad a bit. It now moves the mouse cursor by a points in each direction, roughly the distance of a tile on the battlefield and the distance between traits.
After around 40 hours tho I became super comfortable with the trackpads (have experience with the Steam Controller too, so mileage may vary) and now just play it as if it's a regular PC game.
But feel free to try out the configuration I shared. I tried to hotkey all possible commands so definitely check out the actual config to see how I set the repair keys.
I’d say it lasts 3-5hrs under BB load without optimizations, and could last a couple hours longer or so with the power limiting (it can run BB well enough to afford to do that as well).
If I were to go play a fan whirler 3rd person rpg it would last about 2hrs, and if I were to play a rogue-like or low intensity turn-based game I could expect like 4+ hours roughly, with the same power options unused to make it last longer.
Nothing to be wowed over, but definitely good for a handheld running full on pc games.
Edit: Noticed it runs pretty much same battery life as idle (5hrs), which means it is pretty much running the most optimally (may still respond to increasing time away from charging if lower power consumption in settings tho)
