Also spearwall doesn't protect against orc stun if it fails to hit,
Doesn't trigger against Footwork too. Though AI doesn't seem to exploit this much: Webknechts have Footwork yet do run into Spearwalls.
Orc Warriors and Warlords can't be knocked back, I think Unholds as well. You can still footwork back and reestablish the spearwall if you want.
I have no idea about the Ijirok.
Spearwall works against Unholds only when they act intentionally stupid by walking into it instead of using their charge ability (check animation/log to see difference). Against a charging Unhold spearwall does nothing even if you use Indom to negate stun/pushback.
How would a human stop a massive unhold in the first place? Pretty sure anything less than an army would turn and run with their arses ahead of their bodies.
The game models spears, not the longer Macedonian sarissas. The phalanx was made up of overlapping sarissas, 12+ feet in length, with the first 3 rows of spear points overlapping creating a wall. The further ranks held the sarissas up at an angle over the formation to deflect missile weapons. The modeled spearwall is more akin to an infantry square, and if you have every brother on the front line using a spear an shield then the odds of stopping an Orc or Unhold increase due to overlapping coverage.
As mentioned above the spearwall does stop Orcs and Unholds - if they hit, otherwise the enemy closes with the unfortunate Brother.
