It's a unique fight that takes special tactics and is high risk. It offers variety for players looking for variety and can always be avoided by players with no interest in it. Hunting lindwurms is not critical to game play but no battle is critical to game play. The game is designed that player can skip any battle. Except for bragging rights in a single player game, it's not worth much. And as a human life skill, fighting lindwurms is worth nothing. I am certain my obituary will not have the line, "killed seven lindwurms with no losses".
But I won't fight them if my team isn't ready. Need to have a few super tanks close to full level for it not to be super risky.
Still not a fight I particularly like. Even with super tanks it only takes two lucky rolls to be in serious trouble.
You realize you could kill any number of lindwurms with a single naked level 1 dude? That alone was reason enough to add zone control on the tail.
Aye, that's how balancing is done. Let's leave the broken feature there and ask players not to exploit it. Good point.
You don't have to ask players not to do anything nor bring it to the attention of those who don't use it.
Why stop there? Let's add a perk that permanently increases all stats by 100. If they players want, they can use "dumb stuff like that", just let them.
Or maybe get rid of broken features, and instead add modding support so that the players can do whatever they want. Oh, wait. The devs already did that.
