Where do you get the mods?

It's unfortunate there is no workshop (why?). I would like the faster travel time and improve of quality mods.

You can read about the "why" in the FAQ. In short it was either no mod support or no game at all due to financial reasons in BB's early days.

But if there's mods doesn't that mean there's support now? Why not have a workshop? Isn't it just a feature they can click on steam?

No, it isn’t. It’s a long story, but to cut it short, Steam Workshop support means basically that you can install mods with just a click because the game integrates them more or less seamlessly. That is not the case with BB — you need something like ModHook (also downloadable in Nexus) for these mods to work.

I'll just cite the FAQ:

Although we would have liked to support modding beyond what is currently possible, early on in the development of Battle Brothers we had to make tough decisions to get the game made at all. These decisions can't be undone anymore, and that's just the way it is. If there is ever going to be a Battle Brothers 2, it'll have full-fledged mod support for sure.
