3 headed flail
i've always ignored the 3 headed flail in the past. The thing it did well was so niche and the things it did badly it did atrociously poorly at. Without the benefit of triple overwhelms it felt like it had all the negatives of 3 strikes and none of the positives. But its had a damage buff recently so i thought i'd visit it again and lo i was able to stick with it. (Granted i did find a famed version before first crisis that had dmg up so i did get a double dip of bonus damage to take me into late game.)

Given the wider field of use i did find out a few other things the 3 headed flail does very well other than bop heads.
Great at stopping people fleeing.
can inflict multiple injuries per swing (took crippling strikes)
totally counters nine lives
Great anti Geist

The damage buff made it usable. Hail is now quite good although the expense makes it hard to use a lot.

It still suffers from poor armor ignoring damage problems, even with Duelist. It still suffers from split damage problems unless you are Hail spamming. It also suffers from a cumbersome 12 Fatigue per swing with mastery (Orc Cleaver is only 13).

I don't actually think CS is very good on it for that reason.

Fearsome is quite good on it though. Only the first hit can proc the 1-14 damage effect but all three hits benefit from the morale penalty assuming you can hit for 15 or more damage.

3Head users benefit a lot of nearby Hammers or 2H axe bros who can dent or strip armor first.

Yeah the hail spam is the way to go. Which does work out to every 2nd or 3rd turn being recover ill grant you but hes got work done in that time.

Big armours is for sure one of the things it handles poorly. I think for those battles (say orc warriors) ide be subbing in a 2h flail even with the point spent on duelist.

And by all means im not suggesting the 3h flail is the new meta, but i'm glad its now a passable weapon and pleased to discover it even has a new niches it fits into well.

I would not recommend taking 2h flails against orks since they can't be stunned and their shields suck, take 2h maces instead as they give a debuff and deal significantly more damage,
the main question is duelist is even worth taking on 3h flail? I've not tested it, but it does sound like it could be skipped.

The 3 headed flail is a great weapon. its pretty much the only 1 handed weapon other then spear that I use.... I cannot say enough good things about it even before the recent buff....

3-headed flails shred lightly armored opponents and you can sometimes get them very early if you dip into the southern deserts at the start of the game. Like all other flails though they're just not good enough for endgame despite being fun to use.
