Only done one tournament. Don't remember the exact numbers anymore but I got Outlaws -> Outlaws + Dancer -> Raiders + Hedge + Swordmaster.
Nets and Fearsome put in work.
Don't remember my reward. It was a poorly rolled 1Hander iirc. Might have been an Axe.
I think that the tournaments in general are too high risk for ironman. They are fun for the challenge they provide which I like, but the risk/reward matrix is highly unfavorable. You blindly gamble your best 5 bros for a random famed item. Just about every other means of getting famed items is less risky, so the mindset changes to something akin to a legendary location which you do more for the fun/challenge rather than for the reward.
I wish the game would tell you what you are facing next round before you commit given the high amount of variance in what you could be fighting. I don't like blind gambling in a setting I cannot retreat from. I can beat Swordmasters but probably not Champion Swordmasters, but you have no idea what you are fighting. From a realistic standpoint, there is no reason my team wouldn't know who their next opponent is before deciding to commit or bail out.
probably lost more money on repairs than what i gained
I brought bros to fight humans, not beasts. Smh. The famed dagger was terrible too.
Oh jeez, i didnt even encounter archers in the arena so far and you cant do arena fights at night i think, good fun tho.
I feel like either i didnt do enough high level arena fights or tournament throws stuff against you that you wont find in regular arena, i fought a single lindwurm in regular arena before and i assume it would be more in tournament.
Sir Robert sure maimed your expectations...
/drum roll
In first tournament i remember only third round - champion swordmaster + 5-7 mercenaries. I realize that something going wrong, when he leaves an injury to my 90+ hp bro with 300 helm at full durability with just 1h sword. My 90+ two handers have 30% hit chance to hit him, when he is under net, lol (120 mdef + dodge not a joke). But thanks to mercenaries overhelm my guys have 10-20% hit chance, lvl 9 archer with 85 ratk misses a couple of shots, while this swordmaster just shred my veterans. I tried this battle few times and decided to take money and leave alive :D
Second tournament:
In first round, got ~6-8 frenzied hyenas
In second round got blade dancer and ~5-7 nomads
In third round got swordmaster, blade dancer and ~5-7 nomads
At tournament i took this guy

Now he shred nomads and swordmaster at final round. Also qatal duelist with overhelm helps a lot against blade dancers. Win a padded norse helm.
Overall it would be cool to know who you face in the next stage. If i knew that there is a champion swordmaster in next round, i will just leave this tournament :D
Qatal Duelist is awesome in the arena in my experience.
Agreed. This is my only gripe with the tournaments. I like challenges, but I don't like blind risk. Given how Champion Swordmaster is a god among men, I'd rather not gamble my team into the possibility of feeding his ego.
Why wouldn't my team know who they are fighting? Are they too busy drinking in the tavern between rounds and not watching the other fights? Are my bros too dumb to even look at the participant list? It isn't realistic, and it isn't good from a gameplay standpoint either imo. It is too risky for ironman.
