Guns fire in a straight line, not spray
show me your gunners carrying the goblin city, or the monolith.
I could see them being ok against armies that keep a two row formation, but you'll need to hit 3-4 enemies each shot to make them better than regular Archer/Thrower Bros.
And like Xuan said: in which Legendary location would you use them?
Being tied to the same perk as the crossbow helps in that it makes the battle brother much more usable overall. Even with the crossbow buff that changed the reload/shooting costs, the crossbow just cant keep up with the killing of the warbow. I like having the ability to mix it up.
Make Lindwurm skin one of the ingredients, so there's a reason to fight them. (Wouldn't be very 'realistic', but we already need Unhold hide to create larger quivers, so...)
"Gunners" are the MVP for goblin city, but they bring their crossbows, not the guns, to that fight. Crossbows are a lot better against goblins than warbows because warbows do not one-shot goblins as well (maybe an exception would be a unique warbow with increased damage and accuracy). Reliable 1-shot kills of regular goblins with killing frenzy with a heavy crossbow. I resorted to bringing poison on my warbow guy so that his quick shots after berserk proc would at least eventually kill the goblins he hit. A tip would be to use the crossbows on the skirmishers and initial hit of overseers, and to use warbows on ambushers and finishing hit of overseers. Ambushers are less durable than skirmishers, so the warbow has a better chance of 1-shotting them than skirmishers - plus they're further away.
I want to bring one to monolith because of the debuff from the gun and I also build them as duelist throwers - so the heavy throwing axes would do well, but I probably won't because the necrosavants would be too much of a problem.
The gun is good for fights with a lot of enemies packed. I've found them better than warbows or crossbows for lindwurms, spiders, large numbers of orcs, humans without arbalaster equivalents, wolves, hyenas, maybe others. It's also the best weapon for debuffing, provided the enemy is in tight formation. Hitting 6 enemies at once can just add up to a lot of damage. It really shines against huge numbers of enemies and with a height advantage.
I don't get it at all. Why 2? I used 2 earlier in the game including goblin city (with crossbows), had one fight with a plethora of chosen and many unholds go badly and now I have 1. He still seems effective.
yea thats where they really wreck an enemy
the mid game fights against tough opponets he is usually tight, like orc beserker bands
you know ive played about 10 games to completion, and never triggered the Goblin City,,,,Do you have any hints how to trigger it?
i can afford 2 cuz i always play the peasent band start....yea that start is hard to get going but having the 2 extra fighters is nice latter game
i hate being swarmed under by a 20 band enemy gang and with 18 i at least keep from being swarmed under
yea i had a long debate with an experienced player once that he thought the hunter start with archers was the key to victory
Wrong or right i just tottaly disagreed and saiid if we ever had a mult-BB game my party woul rip his archers apart :D
now id be terrified of his musket wielders spraying me lol......i am re-thinking my challeng :D
just explore, when you are near the city an event will pop up telling you something about some mounatin of skulls and shamans. When you try to attack it then another event will ask you for killing parties or razing other goblin settlements.
You just have to find the City (Rul'Gahzix or something like that). When you enter you get a side-quest to either take out Goblin camps or patrols (pick camps, it's better). Then once you defeat five camps you can go back and challenge the City.
