Ridiculous Arena fight
Im fighting for a named weapon in arena and have to do 3 matches back to back, first two go pretty easy not much damage, then last match 3 nomads and a champion swordmaster and champion bladedancer, i am wrecked by the champions, unable to land a single blow on with a 5% chance to hit, bare in mind i am using two hedge knights, an assasin my swordmaster and a companion ,my assasin has 160 initiative with armor and still goes last and has base 38mdf and with dodge and confident morale still opponent didnt miss once, using a net my swordmaster with 96 mat has a 18% chance to hit,how the hell are you supposed to fight them and why are they so overpowered it makes my veteran level brothers look like brigand thugs!

you got lucky with the sec match i was matched with 4 mecanary and 1 SWORDMASTER at day 40

my best guy have a 20% chance to hit the swordmaster it was hilarious, and the mercanary is stronger then some of my weaker guys.

i think the best chance to do arena is probably day 40-50ish or very very late. i think with a three glad start it is possible to hit a 40 day power spike where you just got your 3 glad to the tier 7 perks and all the equip money can buy. then you just need to get a luck roll on the area, out of all the champion fights the excutioner and hedge knight seem easier. because you can at least hit them.......... sword master/desert stalker/blade dancer are pretty much untouchable, unless you have net, and flash ban to you reduce their int. and fire bomb them for good measure.

Basic sword masters / blade dancers aren't so problematic, the fun starts when they are champions on top...

Apart from nets I found that 100 ratk throwers are relatively reliable against them when they are netted.

No idea why you had only 18% on your netted champion. When I used a reinforced net against a blade dancer champion I had about 50% chance to hit on a 100 matk character after I had him surrounded with 4 men.

It was probably the sword master champion who have 120 melee defence i think.
I know when i fought a sword master champ my 90 something melee attack guy couldn't touch him with only 5% chance.

To be honest arena tournaments probably aren't the best way to get famed gear for an iron man campaign. They're worth a go because you don't have to do all 3 fights but like many arena fights chances are you'll have to face too risky an enemy to be worth it.

Yeah as mentioned a ranged bro is the answer to those exceedingly high mdef opponents. Swordmaster base mdef is 80 before he a champion. Plus they have about 15 perks. They're better than any bro you'll ever get.

they are the chosen ones, can dodge bullets...
wei270 Sep 10, 2020 @ 11:51pm
yeah a champion sword master can have 80+25% that is 100, then dodge with 115 int +15% that is 132 (all bb states round down) which is another 20 defence................. for a wonderfull total of 120 mdef, netting them reduce that to 66, and if you flash ban him which takes alway 25% of his int and fat in that reduce his defence by another 7, a 100 melee brother would then have about 38 chance to hit him.

good news is that they dont have resilance, so that spider poison does 30 damage per charge if you manages do 6 damage to him, during your 4 hit, a miss hit still consume a charge. fire pot also burns the tile for 3 turns but you need to first reduce his armor for fire pots to be effective, but fire pot could potentially do 60 damage to him over the 3 turn.

I guess theres another positive point for fast adaptation.

I do have a spear/throwing weapons hybrid brother with fast adaptation, perhaps he would have been able to damage them but to be honest i was really shocked how fast they ruined me, my hedge night with about 280ish head and body armor and 115hp was left with 5 hp and two injuries after two attacks, I was like wtf!, they all survived apart from one bro because of surgeon but now they all maimed, oh well guess I just got really unlucky!

My level 31 Hedge Knight with 360/360 famed armor got 2 shot through Indomitable. Yes, the Arena opponents are over-powered ;)

I'm finding the Arena can be the end of many a promising campaign. Like my latest one 2 Nachezerers around day 30. I thought it would be a lvl 1 and a lvl2. But no it was a lvl2 and a lvl3. I actually did rather well, but then it all went downhill quick. Still, love the arena.

Yeah, avoid Nachos in the Arena. You could quickly find yourself with just 1 guy left after 2 swallows.

Damn, Nachos "swallow" indeed! ;)

Loved the arena, had 3 lvl 11plus guys with 12 plus wins each with no dramas, until met a champion called something the headtaker and his champion gladiator mates. That was 3 great bros wrecked. Got to love ironman sometimes.

Just faced a completely mad sword master champion in the arena (+2 "normal" mercenaries).
He had a melee skill of 161, since according to the log, he had 42% chances of hitting my best tank who has with 119 mdef (with raised shield). And of course, this sword master champion had fast adaptation, so although he missed the first strike, he landed the second. And then my tank with 300/320 armor with bone plating and 91 hit points died in 2 more strikes.
I don't know his melee defense, but my best bro with with 90 matk had 5% chance to hit him.

I've lost count of the times I died/reloaded/retried (yeah, I was not playing Ironman)

Finally, I found the solution = tank + 2 ranged with poison and nets (which the sword master champion shredded like paper, but still, they bought time for the poison to do its job) while the tank was keeping the 2 mercenaries busy.
Wasn't easy, though, as he had also a quite good ranged defense, around 40-50 I guess, but still way easier than trying to hit him with melee weapons.

This sword master champion did feel completely overpowered - as there is absolutely no way you could have a brother even approaching this kind of strength.

Just use shield bash in big nachos, they need all the ap pool to swallow.
