my best guy have a 20% chance to hit the swordmaster it was hilarious, and the mercanary is stronger then some of my weaker guys.
i think the best chance to do arena is probably day 40-50ish or very very late. i think with a three glad start it is possible to hit a 40 day power spike where you just got your 3 glad to the tier 7 perks and all the equip money can buy. then you just need to get a luck roll on the area, out of all the champion fights the excutioner and hedge knight seem easier. because you can at least hit them.......... sword master/desert stalker/blade dancer are pretty much untouchable, unless you have net, and flash ban to you reduce their int. and fire bomb them for good measure.
Apart from nets I found that 100 ratk throwers are relatively reliable against them when they are netted.
No idea why you had only 18% on your netted champion. When I used a reinforced net against a blade dancer champion I had about 50% chance to hit on a 100 matk character after I had him surrounded with 4 men.
It was probably the sword master champion who have 120 melee defence i think.
I know when i fought a sword master champ my 90 something melee attack guy couldn't touch him with only 5% chance.
To be honest arena tournaments probably aren't the best way to get famed gear for an iron man campaign. They're worth a go because you don't have to do all 3 fights but like many arena fights chances are you'll have to face too risky an enemy to be worth it.
good news is that they dont have resilance, so that spider poison does 30 damage per charge if you manages do 6 damage to him, during your 4 hit, a miss hit still consume a charge. fire pot also burns the tile for 3 turns but you need to first reduce his armor for fire pots to be effective, but fire pot could potentially do 60 damage to him over the 3 turn.

Yeah, avoid Nachos in the Arena. You could quickly find yourself with just 1 guy left after 2 swallows.
Damn, Nachos "swallow" indeed! ;)
He had a melee skill of 161, since according to the log, he had 42% chances of hitting my best tank who has with 119 mdef (with raised shield). And of course, this sword master champion had fast adaptation, so although he missed the first strike, he landed the second. And then my tank with 300/320 armor with bone plating and 91 hit points died in 2 more strikes.
I don't know his melee defense, but my best bro with with 90 matk had 5% chance to hit him.
I've lost count of the times I died/reloaded/retried (yeah, I was not playing Ironman)
Finally, I found the solution = tank + 2 ranged with poison and nets (which the sword master champion shredded like paper, but still, they bought time for the poison to do its job) while the tank was keeping the 2 mercenaries busy.
Wasn't easy, though, as he had also a quite good ranged defense, around 40-50 I guess, but still way easier than trying to hit him with melee weapons.
This sword master champion did feel completely overpowered - as there is absolutely no way you could have a brother even approaching this kind of strength.
Just use shield bash in big nachos, they need all the ap pool to swallow.
