Assassin and archer build
SO, what would those two look like?

I actually found an assassin down south and hired him.

I also have a kickass hunter that I hired up north.

How do I build out those two?

Posting pics of the bros could help.

Not sure what an "assassin build" is (it's too vague). You can do a lot of things with Assassin recruits because they are good. What are you interested in building? They have uniquely high base initiative so they have natural synergy with things like Dodge/Overwhelm if you want to go in that direction.

Archer builds have a lot of room for personal preference, but core perks would be something like Nimble and Bow Spec... and that's it really.

Then there's a bunch of other perks that can work well depending on what you like. Berserk and Frenzy are pretty common too as archers like to deal damage.

Few suggestions:

Duelist

With assassins mask, robes, hyena armor attachment, good melee attack and defense, he can do a lot of work.

Archer/Throwing weapon specialist
https://tumult.cc/bb-calc.html?1-9&1-8&2-7&2-1&4-12&4-11&5-2&6-3&6-1&7-3&1-5

Nice build for sniping from afar and doing a lot of damage with javelins to close targets. Also, with bags and belts you can have nets, fire/smoke/flash pots and all kinds of other items to help you out as well.

Heavy 2-Hander

https://tumult.cc/bb-calc.html?1-9&1-8&2-6&3-4&4-6&5-1&5-4&6-1&7-3&7-4&6-4

Give this one heaviest armor you can find plus great sword and it will deal huge amount of damage while still having +10-25 extra melee defense from reach advantage perk.

Sight unseen I'd say the assassin should be built like an archer, and the hunter should probably be a ranged defence\fatigue\resolve focused character, preferably using the firelance.

Hmm, interesting.

I was thinking of making the assassin a melee character that is nigh impossible to land a hit on.

The hunter would essentially be a sniper with the potential to defend himself if someone sneaks into melee.

Don't ever build "universal" melee/ranged units. That's a waste of points you can invest in stats which matter. If you can't save your ranged unit using other means (stun, taunt, rotate, kill the sneaky bastard), just take footwork perk.

Southern assassin has pretty good melee attack and defense. Why would you use it as an archer? They are pretty good duelists.

And why would hunter be a "defense"/"resolve"/"fatigue" character? Back-line units don't need much resolve, with good ranged defense and nimble perk, they don't really need any other defensive perks and fatigue is definitely not very important when "berserk" allows it to use "recover" after killing an enemy.

That's who I hired.

The archer build looks a bit off. Is that a pure archer?

I'm still pretty new. What would you change?

@seb not sure about the executioner there. I haven't seen the bros stat for your assassin but I usually want lots of hp on my nimble.i'd probably go colossus instead. I'm also not a big fan of footwork on my melees as I usually have dedicated rotation tanks. I'd save that perk to get killing frenzy, if frenzy ain't your thing you could also spec for mobily or fatigue recovery (pathfinder, recovery)

I'll answer this tonight when I have a chance to load up my pure archer and my hybrid archer.
