Holy War Sides

So I am playing a Gladiator run and I think my crisis may be the Holy War, since I am very friendly with the southern city states will I be able to join their side? Or is it only the northern ones.

I'm doing the same thing, but there are only 3 southern cities, period.

2 of them are harbor cities.

not sure if this makes it easier, or harder, to play allied with the south.

Doesn't make a difference, since all the holy sites are inland, that's where you fight, you don't fight at actual cities.

it's more about being able to quickly resupply that has me concerned.

then it should help if you choose to play for the south, after all, fast travel between two cities is great, espeically considering the provisions costs of travelling through the desert between cities.

It can be either side, but you need to unlock the ambition that gives you contracts with noble houses first (professional renown). Then just pick whatever northern or southern contract related to the holy war and voila, side is picked.
