Advice needed on choosing next ambition (List in image)
Hi all. just completed the 12 man ambition and immediately afterward the get a banner ambition, though it did not give me a choice to choose my next ambition after the 12 man ambition.
It just said I had completed it (I had enough gold) but gave me no choice.
Is this a bug?
Also, I have now been given the choice of ambitions in the image below:

Which of these ambitions should I choose that will give me the most benefit as a level 5 12 men company?
This is my first real playthrough so advice very well received :)
Cheers :)

naming a sergeant is extremely valuable. do you have someone with both the rally and fortified mind perks ? (technicaly only need rally) you could complete it right away if you did. I think my sergeant has 83 resolve (gets an item for like +10 resolve upon completing that ambition.) Half my team is level 5 in my game too. so I'm not quite as leveled as you.

catching the eye of the noble houses I think requires like 1050 reknown.. you could complete that fast potentialy too.

first the sarge. You need a sarge, sooner or later.
after that go for the noble house thing. It opens the contracts from noble houses, which are a tad tougher but well paid. you want them.

As everyone said, a sarge is le bae <3. Especially a flag carrier.

Lol I'm at day 70 with 'great' renown and I've never even used my banner, or have a sergeant, or anyone with rally. Although I've been avoiding geists like the plague because I'm pretty sure whole company would bail on turn 1 lol

I completed 2 ambitions in a matter of minutes and I believe my contracts and enemies will now be much tougher?
Is this how the game scales your opponents? The More ambitions you complete the tougher your opponents become?
If the above is correct I would rather choose an ambition that I can take my time achieving as I'm worried the opponent strength with these rapid ambition jumps is going to be too much for my current company to deal with?

If I do the Sargent one, which will not take long it will be 3 ambitions in a row very quickly. Does the level, number of opposing force, skill and equipment contracts jump a level each ambition you achieve? I am worried that My men will now be facing much tougher opponents than I had planned on facing at this stage of the game?

I dont honestly know, but in my experience, I did a few of those same ambitions in a row real fast, and didnt wind up facing anything too tough. my game is right around the same spot as yours, but I've got the sarge and noble house ambitions done already. my first contract for a noble house was a joke, was a patrol and I couldnt find anything to fight while on that patrol, least it counted as a success even though I hardly got paid cause they wanted to pay me small upfront, then pay by the number of heads I took. there are still one skull contracts available with brigand thugs and poachers to face if you want to beat them up(just did that last time I played). I personaly think some things may ramp up by the day. I'm on day 35.

might also be by your reknown that things ramp up I guess, and completing ambitions does add some reknown, but not significantly more than completing contracts I dont think.

I could choose the Sargent ambition, none of my guys has the rally troops perk yet so I could potentially hold off on completing the ambition until I feel comfortable with how difficult the contracts etc are to complete?
And who of my crew would make a good Sargent when I decide to complete the ambition?

I'm certainly not expert enough at this game to say this with alot of conviction, but looks to me like brother black the monk is built the most the way I'd build a sergeant plus has one star in resolve and a 48 resolve which makes him one of your higher resolve guys and resolve like the main stat for a sergeant.

Cheers Sca, He has the highest resolve apart from the Witch Hunter but the Witch hunter is one of my longbow guys who move around a lot. I'm not sure if that has any bearing? Plus Brother Black could also be given the Fortified Mind Perk for a 25% increase in Resolve :)
That would be a wasted perk on my pure longbow build on the Witch Hunter.
I choose the Sargent Ambition now, but will hold off completing it until I get a few more good recruits :)

alot of my knowledge of builds in this game I picked up through reading this steam community guide for battle brothers:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1185230449

basicaly a sergeant helps your line not break with his resolve in two ways, by using rally, and by holding your banner out. since the banner is a two tile melee weapon, it makes sense for him to be more of a utility polearm build, that guide I linked mentions sergeant in the frequently asked questions section, it says to give him alot of nets.

Many thanks. Will have a good read of the guide. Brother Black the Monk is my main polearm brother. He has the battle standard and next time he levels up will get the Fortified Mind perk to give him a nice boost to resolve and then the Rally the troops perk to finish the Get a Sargent ambition :)

They're especially good for geists. Other times would be with ancient priests to resist horrify, and to resist the roar of an orc warlord. And if you have frontline guys who aren't confident in battles you're winning, or guys who waver, a banner sergeant with rally is helpful. As a pike the banner is just okay, but having the rest of your team buffed or debuffed is huge. I guess if you really don't have anybody with stars in resolve and good resolve to be a sergeant, it may be better to avoid geists.
