Frontline diversity?
I'm having trouble finding a good frontline with 8 men...

I've tried full sheildwall, riptide wall, some diverse options and currently trying spearwall

The best dynamic wall I have goes spear, axe, spear, cleaver/ mirrored on other side

They get ground up so quickly and do no damage what do you try for a frontline? At the moment I have 4 archers and a polearm in back

If youre in early-mid game, then dont run so many archers. Run more frontliners instead.

Myself I use all sorts of weapons, not a certain formation with them, to allow for more options during fights.

Mid-end game, you can have up to 7 backliners for 5 frontliners ^^ And this give you very good dynamic and options, I found.

The most important thing to "tank" is the 2 ends of your frontline. Pick our 2 best melee defense bro, and best armor + shield for that.

I think 5 frontline and 7 backline can ease the work of your 2 "endfrontliners" bros.

Give it a try?

I feel like your frontline depends on your enemy. For example: versus lesser undead, all spearwall will chew them up. Versus humans, they'll avoid your spears so they're more useful for channeling.

I use the same formation for all - 2 spearmen as flankers; 2 shield tanks with Indomitable, and 3 2H damage dealers (only the one with Orc trophy starts at the first row, the other 2 starts from the second row and jumps to the first row after melee is joined).

That's fine if your team is fully established and you have the right equipment. But full spearwall (with alt weapon in bag) will get you far against undead and Orc Young.

I front line 6 spearmen, and back line 2 Pikemen (well, now they are Axemen --the two reach one) 2 Bowman, and Two Crossbowmen. This set up got me to mid-late game on veteran hardcore pretty easily.

My casualities have been VERY light and only on low lvl bros..I prioritized getting at least chainmail for everybody. The hardest portion was making it through the Bandit Marksmen until I could get some archers to suvive and get levels up (Chain mail helps a LOT imho.....on ALL bros). Now they are a cakewalk. I use the spearwall for defense as opposed to heavy Armour. They do carry Kite Shields for Archers.

Late game I had a couple close calls until of got each of my ranged an Axe ---specifically for shield breaking---this setup can succeed but does struggle against Legionaire Skeletons with Pike Backup)

This set up has taken me from early game all the way to now (The Greenskin invasion started and I'm calling it a night).

I will let you know how the formaation works out but I have fought ork warriors before and so long as you have very melee values and can maintain your spear wall....the orcs can't get in close enough while my Ranges eats them alive (Even with shields they are still very easy to hit).
