Have the Banner and 1 or 2 interior bros on waking duty. The rest should try and be available for attacking if possible.
Alps can be oneshot by Billhooks and Longaxes, and quite reliably too with Frenzy up. By the time you are fighting 11 Alps you should be able to mow them down pretty easily and eat whatever few hits they may get in.
Shields are no good here and 1 range 2Handers will leave you out of formation. Double grip 1Handers or use 2H Cleavers for whoever doesn't have a Hook or Longaxe.
I honestly liked the first Alps due to calculation and planning that went into the movement. However, 10+ Alps wiping a team did not sit well with many players including myself. They were fun in small numbers. Now the fight is very mechanical.
massive single hit dmg weapon(2h+bow) + stun weapon + net
if you are rich, bring dogs to everyone and expect massive lost, use with caution
if they teleported bad position or too far, shoot them closer
As they say, armor doesn't do anything against them, and with a good two handed weapon or polearm you can one shot them.
The key is avoid getting sleep, so you can get the advantage. For that you need high resolve, maybe over 60-70. If you have a sergeant it is a must to bring it, so it can wake his companion.
Because alps will spawn next to you after the first hit, you will have them in polearm range, or one step away from your two hander.
I have 12 spears in case of several geists (1 for each brother). I also have 12 shields to replace lost shield. I have some extra armor and weapons to replace damaged items after a battle. Then I have items that can be used to craft items I want. (I play B&E.) Some nets and a blessed water, + about 100 food. Remaining slots are for loot. After a fight and looting the ground, there is only a few empty slots in the cart.
3 brothers have a 2-tile weapon. If I should store an additional 9, I would either have to let most loot go, or cut down on items I currently carry. What is your advise to me?
You will almost certainly never need to replace 12 shields from a single fight -- most likely you'll just replace 1 or 2, depending on your group. You'll get tons of free shields over the course of the game from easy marks (e.g. raiders), so you don't really need to stockpile.
You will never need 12 spears for geists specifically. Honestly, just get a couple of whips and you should be good. If you want to keep 2-3 spears handy for such situations, that's more reasonable. (I tend to hoard 2-3 of almost every general weapon type like axe or cleaver, and even that's pretty extreme.)
You can also put some unused items on any brothers you have in reserve. They're sort of like extra storage space.
Managing inventory space is IMO a pretty interesting limitation in BB, and you're probably overdoing your hoard a bit.
Never seen whips. Is that available in B&E?
You should keep some spears around because of spiders, not for Gheist. After the introduction of whips those are the weapons you need for Gheist.
Whips have a range of 3 so much more effective since you only need to do 1 damage to Gheist to kill them.
For Alps whips is also fine, pared with polearms. I usually keep some goblin polearms around.
