Also, in addition, i recommend you to use double grip because spiders try to web you first rather than attack, also bonuses of shields negated because of, again, web.
In short if you get to us its most likely because you don't have enough kill power on your team, 1h shield bros would get swarmed and eaten. Get more 2h/billman bros, also throwing duelists can oneshot spiders quite often.
Sometimes ♥♥♥♥ happens though, i killed hundreds of webknechts without losing a single brother, and considered them the easiest ennemies in the game, yet i also lost 5 brothers to them in a 2 skulls contract in my last playthough...
In case of emergency, it's fine to throw nets on spiders, they are not immune to nets and have just a melee of 60.
Two stuck spider at the right place on a woodmap can force all other spiders to not get forward on that side.
Keeps them busy for a while, often long enough for you to clear another flank or at least re-postion for an advantage.
Doing this you get max damage and fatigue, kills are faster, your bros are less exposed and back line can focus on damage and kills. Its not perfect tactic but hasnt failed me yet.
