The same is true of events where you end up fighting lawmen from a noble house, although in that case you turn an entire noble house against you.
Another example is the quest asking you to return artefact from *random undead place*. You can easily just grab it and run, fighting is always a choice in those missions, and I am sure it's by design. Running away is a big part of the game (or at least it is in my games).
I thought that running away might work but I wasn't balsy enough to try it. Thanks for the info.
Definitely seems a bit cheesy, but like you said there is a realism to it as well. Seems fine to me.
