It is more an issue of whether you have a bro at that stage who has the FAT to wear it...
Heavy armour requires a lot of fatigue and the brawny skill. Good armour will just get damaged if your bro can't swing his weapon or raise his shield because he is too tired.
Would suggest getting Reinforced Mail Hauberks (base worth 2000) to save some gold if you don't mind having a piece with slightly worse durability (210) for 26 Fatigue. Another piece worth considering is Lamellar Harness (base worth 3000) which has 230 durability and 30 Fatigue.
Assuming drop rates and armor has not changed for mobs post DLC/update, both of these can also be looted off Brigand Leaders. For even better armor, Coat of Scales (6000G worth, 300 durability, 38 Fatigue) can be looted off Hedge Knights.
