Provisions: Are they all the same except for shelf-life?
Is there any reason to purchase more expensive provisions other than it might last longer? For example, do some boost healing rates, morale, or movement rates? It just feels wierd that my rich mercenary company survives off of grain -- like peasants.

Nope. More expensive provisions= last longer. Keep in mind that certain types of provision have events associated with them- fish stocks or bread going bad, that sort of thing.
Also, having varied provisions can trigger a morale boost amongst your bros.

If you only feed them grain, then after some time you will get event with your bros complaining about not varied diet. So it's good to have at least two types of food in order to prevent that.

I'm not sure, but I think your brothers get drunk easier at the tavern, if you have alot of rations made up from wine, beer or other alchohol.

Or maybe it's something I dreamt up.

Thanks for the comments, I will diversify their diet now. Personally, I was hoping there was a *benefit* to higher quality food and not just a penalty for a grain-only diet.

There is a benefit, you can get both a negative and a positive event based on diet.

grain and bread can be sold for a really nice mark up in places with droughts.

The DLC has changed it a bit. But the main thing is that you want to get to a point where you buy 2 to 3 good food every two or 3 days. I am talking about the cheese or the various meats which all have an 11 day spoil. With a big 20 person comapny, you will list over 500 foods or so with the proper rotation and this will let you do a north-south run deep in the wildlands.

The new 16 day food is a nice add for early exploration where you dont know where all the mountain peak scout points are.

Mountain peak scout points? Are you saying you can see really far from the top of a mountain? How far compared to a regular view? I never go up them since the food consumption is so high.

Yeah, hills provide a sight boost and mountains are even better. The best spots are where mountain ranges end and there is not too much hills to get to it. The goal is not to cross the mountains but to just hit the tip for a very short bit (while daylight) and get the wide view for finding ruins and wandering units. As you do a big exploration run, adding a couple of these mointain spots into your exploration route really help.
