Unholds help
anyone have any good tips for fighting the giants? 3 can wipe out my whole party easy, they hit everyone around them, easily killing multiple men at a time and seem to dodge most attacks

the best way i can think of so far is use dogs or cheap fighters to lock them in and then use reach weapons to lay on damage as well as ranged attack to wear them down. they close in quick and they do huge damage. so its best to keep at least one tile away. i find the worst part about them is paying to heal injuries after the fight.

A decent shield-brother can aslo lockdown an unhold for a few turns - their "fist" attack isn't very accurate

You might want to invest in a duelist with high melee defense or a shield brother since shields also increase melee defense. Lock them down with these brothers and lay the hurt on them.

Have your melee defense guy in front with shieldwall on, then the polearm guys behind him try to focus attack.

Just do them 1 by 1, there is no need to send several shield bros to surround the unhold, its aoe attack is nasty.

If you want to send in your 2h guy, then have him placed at the opposite position of the shield guy, so there is less chance you 2h guy get targeted. Haven't tested the taut perk yet, it could be handy.

I think the dogs and expendable guys will only give the unhold moral buff. That can make thing worse.

true, but as long as you dont miss(its hard to miss them) it wont matter. you jsut have to out dps them and swap out your guys when they are taking a beating. the good news is they like to smack your guys away so you dont have to worry to much about leaving thier zoc.

This only works against 2-3 of them

Mine was simple but made it without much damage: Just went full melee without shields against 3 of them. Tried to go with swords, axes and so that deal much health damage. I was on like day 20-30 when doing this.
1 tank for each monster no more+ polearm guys + NETS
The advantage with unhold is when your tank is hitted by unhold in most case he's pushed back so you take less risks to change him if he's low hp

You've tried nets on them? I would assume it wouldn't work but never actually tried.

But yes, the idea should be to focus all damage on one unhold to the extent possible since they heal like 75 hp per turn, and tank the other ones as necessary. Their charge skill is nasty too, so if they're 2 tiles away it might be best to move a tank to them and shieldwall.

Rotate is important to avoid deaths, once a guy is one hit away get him out.

2-tile weapons help, just keep in mind that he can decide to throw your tank over his head, move where the tank was, and smack anybody next to him.

Heavy armor helps, good melee defense and shields help... the bone platings armor attachment helps (though to get that you already would have killed unholds)

Yeah nets works on them, and it seems they can't throw your mens when they are stuck, cause this attack have movement i think.

btw dont sell their hides, you will need 'em on kraken quest line

Don't sell bones either. They are used to craft pretty powerful armour mod.

Don't sell snow furs either - they cool and sexy when combined with wolves' hides

Shield tanks to engage and use Indomitable or Shieldwall. 2-tilers to throw nets over them and attack with polearms/longaxes. Heavy 2-handers to wait, engage, attack, attack again, and then Footwork away.
