Which is better to buy? Unique armour or weapons?
I finally found some lovely gear on sale but with I am stuck with the dilemma of buying weapons or armour.

In Citadel A
a) Enhanced Coat of Plates: AR 416, Fatigue -35 cost 42,000
b) Heraldic Bascinet: AR 329, Fatigue -15 cost 23,000

In Citadel B
a) Greatsword - Dmg 90-110, Ignore armour 49%, Armour Dmg 138%, Fatigue -12, cost 15,000
b) Noble sword - Dmg 55-65, Ignore armour 25%, Armour Dmg 108%, Fatigue -8, cost 12,000

After selling my latest loot, I have around 44,000. Which would be the better buys? When it comes to named items, I am never sure if armour or weapons would be better?

Somewhat hard choice. The 416 armor is very expensive but a huge upgrade from nonuniques. Generally better than any unique weapon but the greatsword is the king of weapons and that one also sounds like a significant upgrade and a better deal. Hard choice between the two. Depends on of you need better offense or defense I guess. Am assuming you have a greatsword user.

Noble sword isn't worth buying. Bascinet is nice but nothing too special.

Depends on how many swordsmen you have :)

Gear towards the builds you want to create.

I have 4 bros geared towards swords. With a full team of 20, I have brothers using all weapon types tho I am running archer heavy (min of 4 in the battleline) against anything except Orc warriors and Ancient Dead. I have some unique weapons but the only piece of unique armour I have worth talking about is another Heraldic Bascinet (Armr 320, Fat -20).

Its mainly, the Greatsword and the 416 armour. I can get the Gsword and the Bascinet.
When I start a campaign, I tend to favour defense as I am one of those people who have a tough time seeing my guys as cannon (orc) fodder.

I am at a point where I got past my 2nd crisis (Noble War and Undead) but yet to really fight hordes of Orc warriors.

You could just buy the 2h sword and save some cash to go exploring. The armour, as sweet as it is, will pretty much use up all your funds.

Imo, weapons of the type you want are rarer than armour...though that is a nice piece.

I don't think there is a wrong choice between the two.

Good chance the armor will be gone in a couple days. I missed out on one like it to do one patrol mission to afford it without selling stuff important to me. On the other hand have seen a unique I didn't want stay for a few weeks, so who knows.

Hmmm, weapons do allow me to kill faster, meaning less damage taken if the opponents are dead. Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks for your feedback. The armour will likely be gone in 3 days... it triggered following a successful caravan run.

The enhanced coat of plates by a huge margin over everything else. This isn't so much as rarer than other armors, but as much as you can afford it and make it available. This is endgame armor.

Second would be the greatsword. It has base damage plus both armor and arnor bypass increases. Normally I would say the bascinet would be second in this list, but the greatsword has a really great stat roll.

The Bascinet is really nice and will help give a bro some fatigue relief while upping his protection. It is just that the coat of plates is so much better and the greatsword has really good stat roll.

Named 1h sword, while not as prevalent pre-DLC, still has a high chance of finding on enemy units. Also, the new lighting sword is a guaranteed available named sword.

If you use all your money for the armour you may end in big troubles if you are not able to make a couple of thousands of crowns quickly, in particular if you need to patch a few wounds.
I would go with the bascinet. The gs is great but you can still cope with a non named one and unless you have many gs wielders, the bascinet can be rotated between your men while the sword cannot.

Weapons for sure...you can get decend armor from leaders, knights etc...also the FAT penalty for best armours is for most bros way too high, maulberks with upgrades are enough most of the time. Unique weapons tho (at least some of them) tend to be quite noticable upgrades.

Thanks everyone, after look at the all advice given, I decided to go for the Great Sword and swing over to the other citadel to grab the Bascinet as well. I did make a separate save game as I would like to explore how it would be to grab the armour.

So far its great because I totally lucked out. I hit a random bandit fort during a goblin marauder contract and found an enhanced coat of plates with AR 400, FAT -40. Not as good as the one on sale but hey, its free. I paired the newly purchased bascinet with this armour for total AR 729, FAT -55.

@FredDie, I am not worried about FAT penalties this time around as I have a couple of bros with iron lungs and 3 wild men with stars in fatigue. Also got a couple of other guys with the strong trait. At this point, my entire melee line is scale armor at the min and my 'A' team in coat of scales.

Depends on your budget , but generally weapons are cheaper and better value at the same time.
