geists are stupid
seriously why is this a unit in the game? such terrible design, its literally luck if you manage to kill them or just having way better gear than what you are fighting, if there was some consistent way of dealing with their broken aoe fear it would make sense, but since i have 100+ resolve person spamming rally doing nothing, i guess there isnt?

If you're having trouble with Geists, you should use dogs or make sure you can spam arrows at them from afar. Maybe get a spear bro close since they have +10% chance to hit.

Are you using the banner?

Once i have a strong bannerman they aint a problem. Before that, they are the most dangerous enemy of the game.

yep i am using the banner, rally just doesnt seem to work consistently enough to win consistently, i manage to win usually but its always pulling teeth

It gets better though. My last game i had a bannerman with 150 resolve, my frontliners had around 50 resolve and 40 on the back so everyone with 55+ resolve and the gheists couldnt do ♥♥♥♥♥, even when they break the morale to wavering one rally and my guys were confident again.

Of course, before that they are really a pain in the *. I kinda agree with you that they are poorly designed, although the idea behind it was good.

I wouldn't want it to work consistantly... always hated those movies were the "good guys" tacktics always worked and the bad guys always lost. I love how this game makes you feel the tension of martial combat... from being one shoted by a crossbow to having your head lopped off or soiling your drawers because a geist screamed in your face... nothing is sure

They make the player pay attention to and add points to Resolve, if one does that the Geists become priority kills but are not overpowered.

They move faster than zomboys. If you really don't like dealing with them you can attempt to cheese by running away for a couple of turns to bait them out in front of their meat shield.

I'm glad they're in the game. There are only a handful of encounter types in the game that force you to change up your tactics. You have to actually do something about them. It's supposed to be balanced by the fact that they're usually paired with trash units.

If you're having trouble with zombies try spears walls.

The only time I find them particularly nasty is when you're sunk down into a swamp without room to manuver.

There is AI problem in gheist, if you shoot at them they will walk over their companion's cover. This is AI bug I guess, but that's not what you say stupid.

Players hate geist mostly because of they cant be overwhelmed by min-maxing, no matter how high your resolve is you still have a chance to decrease morale. So it requires you to choose a tactic, whether to sneak up to quickly wipe out them or steadily march through their companion.

Gheists are okey. They just punishes the players who ignores the resolve. I like to get 60 resolve for frontline brother + perk which gives 25% more resolve, also you can get drunk in the tavern for more 20% resolve...

I think there is way worse enemies than Geist. Spears and sword are pretty good agains them. Also dogs is very useful.

I usually have a sergeant with the banner and another brother with the rally perk in those fights. And make sure your brothers have at least 50 resolve. I like to have 55-60 late game.

They tend to attack your flanks. So get 60 resolve on your flank guys and give your main geist hunter the undead trophy and 2h sword for split attack.

I met against a squad of 12+ only geists. That was a pain but luckily they were bad at attacking.

Always get fortified mind on melee. Resolve is critical.

You should aim to have at least 40-50 resolve on any frontliner, and have a good bannerman in case of Undead, since they're usually the ones that test resolve the most. Ancient Dead all have Fearsome, and regular ol' undead are prone to swamping you with numbers which also tests morale.
