WotN DLC - first impressions

First off: barbarians are positively BRUTAL. I went into the first fight thinking "thralls and warhounds? oh well, should be just like thugs and wardogs difficulty-wise". Oh boy, was I ever wrong. I got completely shredded time and time again.

They are definitely a step-up from the brigands, abundance of bleed-inducing weapons leads to serious survivability issues, and their use of Adrenaline... oh boy. I LOVE IT! Didn't feel such an early-game thrill in a long time - with so many restarts it really felt like going through the motions with thugs and the like. Now I really feel like I need to flex my brain just to survive.

Also the new staff sling turned out surprisingly effective for something that I expected to be mostly a "flavour" weapon - works really well on soft targets and with no cost to ammunition I don't feel any regrets spamming low-chance shots en masse.

Didn't really bite deep into the new content but I probably won't have much more time to play before Sunday so just wanted to throw this out to start discussion.

This is why I am the barbarians. First fight just trying to escape the North, three direwolves, no problem (I usually have bad luck with those early game) First contract, 7 thugs, no chance. The monk killed 3 himself. More thugs? No problem. Oooo now raiders, still no problem. Outnumbered 3-1 v Spiders? Also no problem. Searching for the goose and seeing some unholds? RUN! RUN FOR THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HILLS IMNOTREADYAHHH!

As a matter of fact I expect chosen to be relatively easier - they are stronger for sure, but so is your band by that point. At the very start you really lack tools to creatively tackle the kind of raw damage that even thralls can dish out

For a second I thought I was in XCOM 2's forums here since the abbreviation in the title and this comment lead me to believe that people were talking about XCOM's DLC, WOTC which you fight 3 chosen.
