Do dogs steal XP?

I am kind of reluctant to release them at times, because I am afraid of them steal killing - or even getting portion of my overall XP for the encounter.

What is the optimal use of dogs from a purely XP perspective. Let's say, you have 2 fleeing dudes you cannot catch without dogs. But releasing them means that the dogs will likely kill both fleers. Is it still worth releasing them?

As far as I know, dogs do steal killer's portion of xp, but shared part of exp goes to other bros as normal. Same with bleed kills.
So you still get loot and at least some exp, which is better than letting enemy safely retreat. Plus, dogs aren't that likely to finish anyone off on their own.
