Drunkard Trait and Taverns
I think Drunkard is a highly underrated trait for 2h bros and I've been trying to figure out how to reliably add it to bros who didn't start with it without cheating outright by editing save files.

So my question is this. Can you still pick up the Drunkard trait by overusing taverns?

I've found a few unsubstantiated old posts suggesting you can get it by spending a lot of money at taverns or visiting too many taverns or something along those lines, but the wiki says nothing about this method and I've never seen a screenshot posted of it triggering this way.

So is this still possible? If so, how exactly do you do it?

PS: I know you're supposed to be able to get Drunkard by losing eight guys in close succession, but I have yet to trigger it sucessfully this way after multiple attempts and this just seems like a really tedious way to add the trait to more than one character.

never got a drunkard from the tavern. and I celebrate everything! :D I only have the event to cure a drunkard with the whip when he forgott something of the company stuff on the way.

May be wrong but I think that one of my bro (from preDLC run) got this trait due to getting drunk in every settlement and after every battle.

one of my men got the drunkard trait after I had lost alot of brothers who had been in the company for a while.

Interesting. Based on what you're saying it sounds like the main prerequisite must just be getting the drunk debuff from every tavern on the map.

By pre-DLC, do you mean just the latest DLC or all of them? I'm curious when exactly you saw this, because a lot of the posts I found mentioning this method were a few years old or even referenced the beta.

Thats sounds pretty stupid actually... :p

Nope, you can actually "farm" the trait (and there just recently was another thread about it) - since there even exists an event for it that can be checked on the bb wiki.

Basically your bro needs to be a certain lvl and at least 8 bros need to die in battle with him.

I know, and I made a note of that in my original post. I tried that method. The surviving bro was the right level, I had eight others die, then I skipped a dozen or so days in camp waiting for the event to trigger. I tried this several times and never got it. That's why I wanted to know whether there was an easier way.

When I was in the late game running out of things to do, I decided to goof around a bit and hired 8 cheap fodder bros to charge into battle, while the remaining bros just watched and shook their heads in horror.

The drunkard event came up about 10 days later. Unfortunately it was given to one of my tanks - someone not made to deal damage. The wiki doesn't say anything about how often the event can trigger, like if there's a cooldown or anything like that.

It's maybe worth noting that the flavor text mentions having alcohol. I *did* happen to have beer provisions at the time of the event. I dunno if that matters or not.
