How are you defeating them? I have to say I really hate fighting these as my builds and weapon choices don't really do well against them.

With the shield wall, Honor Guards, and Priests I find these to be my most difficult opponents. Much tougher than Barbarians, Orcs, and humans of any kind. I like spears, hammers, throwing weapons, and cleavers; while these guys seem to call for axes and flails.

You can give your 2H Bros the 2-tile-range version of their usual weapon. Longaxe for AxeBros, Polehammer for Hammerbros.

That way, you can kill the damage dealers in two hits instead of wasting time trying to kill the always shieldwalling frontline - while eating Pikes.

You don't need Flails, but yes, cleavers are pretty useless, throwing weapons meh.

I have 80 HP for my FrontBros, so they can stand in Miasma for a couple of rounds - there is no easy way to get rid of Priests, AFAIK.

Tactically someone mentioned to move your front line forward or back a space to throw off the Legion shield wall movement. Gives an extra attack to your Company.

Skeletons universally have low HP but high armour, so you either want high armour damage or high pierce (hammer, mace, axe, and high-pierce famed weapons are all great). Duelists of all kinds (including throwing axe duelists) annihilate skeletons at just 4 AP a shot, which means more chances to hit per round. Throwers do pretty well at sniping priests and backline. Duelists with nets will go ham on their frontline.

If your guys have great melee skill, then 2h hammers are amazing vs. skeletons, but if you're having you're having trouble with shieldwall and don't want to do the cheese strat (?) where you back up one tile so they can't shieldwall and you get two rounds in a row, you can definitely give your guys polearms or use tanks to block the shields so your other guys can flank.

Also, flails are better than missing vs. skeletons, so if that's what you have and your guys have lowish melee skill, I recommend it. Even 2h flail can be very workable vs. skeletons.

Interested to try the bardiche vs. skeletons, as the split attack should be great at reaching the backline.

Don't think anyone here has mentioned it but you may need some mobility to go after priests. They can create a patch of ground that will damage anything living in 7 hexes, but they also have an ability to fear your units so they are forced to pass their go, which can be a death sentence as they can't raise their shields or move out of a bad spot.

Honour guard are the worst though, very high armour and they carry 2 handed weapons a lot of the time which can bleed you or destroy your armour.

Holy water helps with this. If you have a monk you may get random events where he gives you a bottle of it, but theres always a spot on the map where you can get at least 1, sometimes 3 if you play it out right.

If you haven't done so already take the ambition which requires you to destroy places controlled by the undead. You get rewarded with a trinket which prevents fear and mind control on the brother equipped with it. Very useful.

Lastly they don't seem to suffer from the stupidity that human pikemen do where they will occasionally put their pikemen in the front line, which makes them a pain, if you can you could shield bash the corners of their formation to get to the pikes faster but that will leave those units surrounded. And for obvious reasons; fear and injures do not help you here

Hammers, throwing axes and cleavers(1H famed orcish with duelist, 2H are usually garbage) are all strong weapons vs ancient dead.

Though easiest way to deal with legoins is using current king of weapons - billhook. I'm currently writing a guide how to deal with monolith in midgame using peasant militia start, but while it's not ready you may watch this:

their strongest point is their formation. the shieldbearer do little to no damage compared to the pikeman they got.
Just throw in a net or two with the right timing or use terrain to stop the shieldbearers from engaging firt and let the pikes pass on. if their backline reaches you before their frontline, they are fodder.

I have a 1H Mace duelist specifically designed to kill these mofos. 1shot leggionaries and also almost honor guard (with Killing Frenzy active the latter tho, also they may need some armor stripped). They are also my least favourite enemy so now I always build a guy specifically to kill these guys fast in all my companies.
