How do you know?
okay, I just played a quick match against Orc Warriors.
I brought a lvl 12 Bro with Duelist and Throwing Weapons perk, and a lvl 7 with no Duelist and No Throwing Weapons perk.
I had Throwing Axes equiped on both.
The Duelist went with an empty offhand.
The Non-Duelist brought a Kite Shield.
After each throw, I checked the combat log.
The Lvl 12 with Duelist and Throwing Weapons Perk scored a consistent 36-38 damage with Throwing Axes.
The Lvl 7 Bro rolled a 28 once, around 36-38 a few times, and 40-42 a few times.
So I see no evidence that Duelist works with Throwing Weapons.
All I have to go off of is the combat log, because I don't visually see a difference in the amount of damage it does to anything.
Well, it might be.. Because all Duelist does is give 25% more Armor Penetration..
But I don't see a difference, and the combat log doesn't go into a detailed damage report.
Hovering over the Throw Axe ability, shows a breakdown of damage-
On the non-duelist Bro, 0-12 points of damage will ignore armor.
On the duelist Bro, 0-22 points of damage will ignore armor.
So Duelist allows you to do up to 10 more hp dmg per hit with a throwing axe.
Yeah, I still think having a shield is better.
2) Use javelins if you want to pierce.
3) As bobbins said, barb throwing weapons are the really strong ones.
4) Throw from two tiles away to maximize base damage, which maximizes Duelist synergy.
5) Remaining armour blocks damage, so anything with a billion armour will still be hard to pierce.
Up to 10 damage, on that particular item. Heavy Axes certainly can do more, as said above ^^.
But yeah, a whole perk point to do 1 more damage in some rolls.. 3 more damage.. 5 more damage...
Having a shield seems more useful for the extra D when your stats are spread out for the hybrid.
Having the option to bounce a guy away from you and jack them in the face with a throwing axe is pretty nice-- or off a cliff for that matter.
I think one of the big strengths of throwing as a ranged skills is that you can carry a shield with it.
Throwing Mastery, Duelist, and a net - cuts Orcs, Knights, and Chosen to ribbons.
Penetration gets reduced by current armor, therefore you will obviously barely see any differences against them.
Rather test it with barb spears against goblins.
And how is a shield better for your RANGED bros? lol Even 1 extra dmg is better than a shield since your bro shouldnt be engaged in melee and have at least some ranged defense..
(k just seen you do hybrids, still weird since they should be backline no...?)
you have dualist and double grip backwards in your question I think, why would dualist improve that? don't know if double grip does or not.
The point of duelist, (and the point of throwers in general IMO), is to wreck enemies with light to medium armor. With duelist, Throwing spec and killing frenzy up, a heavy javelin duelist can two-shot raiders and reavers, one-shot goblins with a body hit, and do a ton of damage to a chosen right through their armor. I see throwing axes as just a nice extra tool for skeletons and orc heavies.
