There never was a plan to give players magic in battle brothers (aside from the legendary items) , as is clearly stated in the faq. The coat is a nod to the fact that superstition plays a big role in the world of bb and there are people in the game (like some of the village elders wearing it) who dabble in these things and exploit the superstition.
I'm getting very tired of the "telephone game" going on in these forums where someone just states unsubstantiated nonsense like that as fact and then other people just pick it up because it fits their narrative.
I don't really see how speculating on some random thing in the game that seems to have no purpose other than apparently to "nod" at superstitious village elders is me spouting unsubstantiated fact and I can assure you, I'm not playing any telephone games. That's what I have a PC for. I hardly ever even talk on the phone let alone play games on it.
