Defend against raiding parties...

This is nonsense, I am running in a circle to all the parts for a whole day cycle, yet nothing arrives, and all of a sudden it tells me then to return to the town, where I am greeted with people upset about my failure to defend it, nothing was set on fire, no enemies came, no popup for a raiding party incoming. Man I hate these defend against raiding parties missions with a passion.

You don't need to go anywhere. After you accept the contract, just set up camp right on the town

I do that, and half the time nothing comes, no popup, nothing except return to town and fail mission.

Wierd, never happened to me, maybe its bugged.

I have never failed one of these unless I had to run away from the battle.

There must be a piece of the city/village that is a bit away from the central town that you didn't notice.

This place is surrounded by half water, only 2 outskirt locations, I placed myself dead center of the triangle it forms with the main hub. I've had this happen elsewhere though that place was pretty vast in comparison so I threw it up to being unfortunate, but this place.. no chance.

Did you get the warning that the enemy had arrived? Normally you don't have to do much of anything until that warning comes.

Odd that you would fail it without seeing the enemy. I have seen some other people say that this happened, but I have never seen it and it doesn't seem to be the sort of thing that gets mentioned often.

I have never had a raiding part not show up, seems like a rare bug or you are not looking hard enough.

During night, your vision falls. It's possible you might've missed a raiding party during the night, perhaps?

Watch buildings near(belongs, they might be far away) target town, if they start burning, here they are your raiders. Sometimes buildings far away from town and you may not meet your raiders.
