Civil war: which side do you pick?
Hey brothers,

On the morning of Day 90, my company received a warning about Avast the upcoming war between the nobility. Today, Day 101, we visited a castle where a messenger gave a brilliant speech on the inevitable clash between two houses, and the local lord offered us a 3-skull contract to assault the fortification of a rival.

How do you choose the side you'll fight for? Do you pick the house you have the best relationship with, or one which controls more settlements, or is there something in their background (seclusive, greedy, chivalrous...) which gives a hint at an easier or a more profitable challenge?

I feel like this will be a hard test. My company can take on great numbers of Undead, Goblins or Bandits, and can hold its ground against Orcs, but we've never faced Knights before. At least it promises some sweet loot!

Choose side wich settelmens you most likely want to visit, they must contains all stuff you need, and good recruts. Becouse if you take contracts related to war, this setelments will be the only wich you can visit during the war.

I'd begin with choosing an enemy, not an ally. Pick on one house whose settlements are irrevelant for you. Take any contact against that house from both remaining parties. If that doesn't work out for whatever reason, you can still commit entirely to one side. Preverably the one you have the best relations with but not necesairly either.

I just chose the side with the most settlements and helped them get more. Since I already had lost some cities during the orcish invasion I had the idea that maybe if most cities belong to one single noble house, this house will have a better overview over the whole map as soon as the undead scourge starts and they will give me more accurate contracts to fight the undead really exactly where they arise. Dunno if it works since I didn't finish that campaign. ;)

Wipe them out. All of them.

I usually just work for whoever I have the best relations with. The first time that the war happened in my older campaign, I didn't pay attention to the names I was being sent to fight. shortly after the war began I was at war with 2 noble houses, so make sure to read the names on the contracts carefully before accepting unless you want the world against you. It worked out on my game, I helped my house expand from the middle of the map to the southern plains and all the way to the east coast. Took my noble house from being the 2nd largest to the largest by far.

Since the noble war is actually a threeway war between the three noble factions, just pick 1 enemy. Look for following factors in enemy:
- precariously arranged empire (e.g. towns vulnerable to being captured by other nobles)
- Buildings in those towns aren't so valuable (not many armorers or weapon-smiths)
- empire is land-locked
- You have no positive relations with the locals in that empire.
