I have a question about 'Squire'(job background)
Witch meaning is correct?
1. the principal landowner in a village or country
2. a male attendant especially on a great personage(or knight)

In Battle Brothers it refers to 2.

I heard squires get an event from hedge knights in the company. Has anyone had it pop? Hasn't happened to me, even if I've a ton of knights and a few squires.

Indeed number 2, a trainee of sorts working for and learning from a higher social position, such as a knight, helping him with his chores. Of course this is a former background, since all these guys are now seriously concidering deadly mercenary work :)

If so, I am a bit confused.
Despite being a servant, it is a high maintenance cost like a noble or a knight.

He is medium tier and 'young knight in the training'

From what i remember they have the average T2 daily wage, like b*stards or retired soldiers, T3's go up in the 40-50

The background description is what you should look at for that.

Think of a squire as a apprentice that already has several years of experience toward becoming a knight. Squires were well equipped and trained as knights since childern, they just hadn't taken the final step yet.

Hmm ... you're right.
I thought he was almost the same as a servant of the lower classes.
However, I understood that he was training knight. haha :)

Thank you for all guys.
Now, I have a rough understanding of the knight system.

Squires can make for very good hirelings if you can find one with good stats/stars and traits. They are cheaper to hire than more "professional" mercs but still start off with excellent combat stats due to their martial training as their role as a squire. They fall in between Militia and Sellsword, etc from my experience. The problem with them is that they seem to be extremely rare.

They're very good recruits btw, probably one of if not the best T2 background, granted i find they're rare so my sample is thin but i have never been disappointed by a Squire.
If you're ready to adapt to what you get, that is.

Squires are amazing, theyre essentially hedge knights that dont cost a fortune. Good martial ability, good resolve etc.

Im disappointed by virtually every hedge knight I hire but almost never with a squire and the base stats seem to be mroe or less the same.

I also heard they are great in bed!
