Hedge Knight event (please stahp!!!)
If you are a relatively new player to Battle Brothers, I suggest you do not continue reading this post, as it may contain spoilers for you (as I will be talking about in-game events for the late game).

For the rest of you, please continue...

Hedge Knights are an end-game unit, arguably the best of the best; yet the game mechanics punish the player for attempting to have two or more Hedge Knights in your group.

The Event: Should the player host two or more Hedge Knights in his/her band of merry men, there will eventually be an event which basically boils-down to "this group ain't big enough for the both of us". They will fight one another to the death.

The player has options:

a) Let them fight to the death (with one prevailing Hedge Knight)
----- Basically making you lose any progress made on levelling a Hedge Knight and losing 7-12k for the original purchase

b) Pay them off before they exchange blows
----- Lose 2000 gold pieces
----- Majority of mercenaries take varied loss to moral (some become angry, some concerned)

c) Break them up mid-fight
----- Some mercenaries take minor wounds
----- Several days are needed to heal-up, rendering the group idle for a short period (depending on your reserves)

I have absolutely no qualm with the event itself; what I would like to stop is the repetitiveness of the occurance. I had two Hedge Knights and I had the event occur three times in around 50 days.

I would like to establish an all-powerful group of Hedge Knights; but this event it preventing me from doing so. Perhaps that is the developer's will; right now I am making a case against that decision:

Hedge Knights' initial purchase is expensive (can range from 7000 - 12000)
Hedge Knights' salary is also expensive (100+?)
Hedge Knights are very, very rare.

These three points in themselves are perhaps reason enough to deter the player from snapping-up every single Hedge Knight in the mid to early-late game. Naturally, in the late-late game, the player is rolling in money and this poses no problem. Creating a group of 5+ Hedge Knights could be an end-game target for some. I had over 300 days in a game when I finally had two Hedge Knights; how many days would it take to get five? This question and the answer for it is perhaps reason enough to not have the event pop-up every 10-20 days.

I am not throwing my toys out of the pram. If the devs are adamant that the player should be punished from having two or more Hedge Knights, and wish to encourage the player to have a a balanced/varied group of mercenaries; then by all means I am for it.

I would just like to suggest that there be a few other means by which to do so (instead of the same continuous event).

This event repetivnes would have more sense if there were interpersonal relathions in company.
Like some guys become sworn brothers, other rivals, some envy, or hate each other etc.
SO if you had two guys who hate each other guts then yeah they would cause hell.

The frequency of this event has been adjusted for the update, as has the frequency of most others.

see that makes me curious, can you tell us more? I am all about the probability of events fireing.
Or is there a place where we can read about the percentage chance (?) of the events fireing??

I'm glad the frequency of this has been adjusted. I'm one of those who would love a team of HKs, but the event makes it hard to bother with.

You should have some faith in the devs and wait patiently until the beta or the final version drops, and then complain about these small details, because a huge amount of previous issues have been looked at and adjusted in this next one. Hold yer horses, mates.

I hear you; definitely agree, but.....
As it's alpha, I'm sure the devs would be happy for feedback; and the suggestions forum is the right place to do it. Perhaps on a final release, the devs will work on a new project and such concerns, such as this post, may go unheard.

But yea, I do have faith in the devs; and I am very very excited for the final update :steamhappy:
