Other than that, I just use repel if the opportunity rises to push an opponent down multiple levels to give my melee guys a break.
I really like Split Shield, but I do use it mainly against those opponents, but maybe also against noble house troops if there's war crisis in the late game or you decide to raid one faction early on.
Spearwall is great against a large number of enemies. It's a free attack on just about anything moving within range, and a chance to push them back. I've seen many types of enemies just walk into it over and over basically skewering themselves in the process. I do notice that certain enemies don't tend to rush in, or they'll shield wall first, then walk in which reduces the chance of landing a solid hit. Of course your spear using characters need a good hit %, and it helps a lot to have spear mastery.
yeah, not just bandits and aux, also AD, raiders, orc young have weak shields and sometimes even goblins, they are soft, but they have high evade chance and destroying shield is worth it sometimes.
As for hook or repel, never use it personally.
I rarely break shields anymore. Sometimes bandits, but mostly just goblins and Fallen Heroes.
Once I get some more bros higher level in my current run on Ironman expert (I'm never going to get to this goal) I plan on doing all heavy armor, front row billhooks, back row pikes.. and then hook & repel to my hearts content.
yes, orc warriors are too heavy for a human to be able to move him around, push with shield, repel and hook doesn't work. Works on orc young though, should work on zerks too
Hook, maybe once. When I had some guys nearby who were waiting to go and the hook would enable more damage dealt by the surround.
But outside of that 1 time, nope.
An enemy used Hook to pull one of my units into the hole.
I couldn't get out. I couldn't attack.
He was stuck in the hole for the rest of the battle completely taken off the board by that one use of Hook.
It was the best use of Hook I have seen.
Hook I use nearly never!!!
