What is the big deal about the dark ritual?
It seems weird that it has its own stat in the menu, what does it do other than multiply your DPS by 1.05?

"Multiply your CURRENT DPS by 1.05 for the duration of the world."

Keyword is current. The answer was right in front of you.

Also, I don't know why its a stat either... weird, but it doesn't seem to affect anything.

What's weird about it? It's a stat, not parameter, stats are not required to affect anything. It's just show a number of uses for those that care. Actually in browser version it was displaying incorrect amount of uses so was useless even as a stat. Not sure if fixed or not now.

There's a bit of misunderstanding here.
Dark Ritual is 1.05, 1.10 with Energize.
If it was 2.10, it would be hilarious broken. :)

I currently conduct an experimental deep run with a second save-file. The optimal zone still is about 1600, HZE is 2771 so far.

Dark Rituals Used This World is +130 times, 8 of them not energized. That equals a total DR-multiplicator of 1.05^4 × 1.10^126 = 165.738.

That's a damage increase of more than 16000000% thanks to that skill, so it sure can be useful at times. (As it was, especially in older versions of the game without any ancients.)

Turns out that the Dark Ritual is pretty much your only source of dps growth after Astraea reaches level 4100.
Loop:

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I think only one person passed middle school math here. Let me repeat what they said.

Energize gives 5% more damage (10% with energize). This comes out to be x1.05 (x1.1)

Base damage*1.05=x1.05 damage
1.05*1.05=x1.1025
1.1025*1.05=x1.157625

Base damage*1.1=x1.1 damage
1.1*1.1=x1.21
1.21*1.1=x1.331

The problem is, you only use it twice before you ascend and lose the bonus (The fastest way to get hero souls is by ascending once an hour). At that point, it's not even worth breaking your idle (25 hero levels gives you x4. To get that, you would need 15 energized dark rituals. That's 7.5 hours at the most efficient usage or one EDR every 30 minutes to equal. Or you can play for 30 seconds and get the same bonus that takes 7.5 hours to get using dark rituals). So unless you're not going to ascend for a few days, you're not even going to see a difference.

x1.21 damage per ascension is not going to do anything because you don't need damage when doing hourly ascensions. You're instakilling everything from the moment you start until you ascend. If you kill an enemy in 1 frame, x1.21 damage isn't going to let you kill it any faster. So you gain no benefit from dark ritual unless you're pushing your zone or doing an endurance run. In fact, you LOSE damage and gold for 180 seconds by doing this (EDR-ER-EDR)

Clicking skills breaks idle? I thought only clicking on the monster does that. Good to know. I only started the game yesterday.
