Relic farming

At the moment I have 3 relics but i'm looking to start farming them. I don't have much experience in the matter but from what i've read you can only get 1 relic per Ascension run, they spawn between up until 2/3 of my highest deep run (not sure how exactly Iris comes into this) and the later you get the relic in your run the higher quality?

My question is basically how can I make sure i get a high level relic, my 3 are levels 47, 46 and 46. My deepest run is 2950.

If during my Ascension run I receive a Relic should I then Ascend again to go for another? or is there another method to farming them

All I know for certain, is my relic ooze showed up at Level 99.
I don't know if they always do that, or if it was blind luck.
As for rarity, mine was a common one, so I'm not sure if the rarity is based on how far into it you find them.

My first 3 showed up around 1250, the next was 1300 and my latest, not 2 minutes ago was Epic at lvl 1530

ok so it seems its not from 99 to 199, its from 1 hour to second hour or third since ascend?
or did it show up in first hour since ascendation? that would prevent cheaters to get the 1000 relic achievement in less than 1000+ hours active gaming and ascending.
to farm u have to ascend everytime u got another one.

my first showed up very early, in the high 80s or 90s, my 2nd was at 115ish, but my highest zone reached is 236,

Both were common only lvl 1 and a lvl 2

If relic quality is based on the level you acquire it, it could be quite tedious to get good ones. I'm assuming therefore it's based off of deepest run.

My guess is that you're right Bravo.

As my max zone is roughly 2900 my relic level will be between 42 - 49.

If I had to guess i'd say Quality level is completely random, you could get a rare at lvl 1 or at lvl 47 or it might be common at 1 or 47. It is purely chance.

However I don't know if current zone level during a run counts towards anything.

Actually, the relic level is based on the level where you kill the ooze.
But as Sir Ruffington said it is completely random what rarity it has.

That actually makes sense, an Uncommon relic i got was at zone 1000, which surprised me being so early however it was only level 43 compared to my previous 47's and 48's.

Is there any formula for buying 3 relics? if anyone knows

One person posted his buying with gems results, two uncommons and a mythic but who really knows the chances or if one in auto mythic? or if it is based of your deepest run much like QA

I lucked out because I never used an auto clicker, speed hack or anything like that and I've never cared about deep runs and usually always ascended when things slow down.

So. Given you get a drop between Iris and approx. 2/3 your max level.

My optimal ascension level is 1700 and my max level is 1800 and Iris starts me at zone 500. So I will always get a Relic while instakilling, by zone 1200 if the 2/3 rule still exists. So far, I usually ascend as soon as I get a relic and have farmed enough in the past 5 days or so (beta saves import) that I currently have 12,377 forge cores.

I'm planning to move Iris up to around 600 or possibly 700, so I can get relics within 15-20 minutes of every ascension. If it's 2/3 of your max level it means I will always get them within 500 zones after I ascend.

Decided that as soon as I get Solomon to 1000, 54 levels to go, I'll bump Iris up to 599 so that I start on zone 600 every time.

That's fine for farming for forge cores (if that's your goal) but if you want to farm for max level relics, you need to have a starting level of 2244 and whatever highest zone ever to optimize the speed at which you find the relic, as to ascend more quickly.

Nice thread. Maybe after I farm another 5-10B souls I can justify Iris starting me at 2244. Right now it takes an hour+ to idle from 2000-2010.
