What is the best way to farm rubies?
I've read the forums, some players mention they have hundreds of rubies. And I cant understand how is that possible except buying them.

At first I thought the mercenaries are profitable, but revive costs for dead mercenaries are huge. I feel lucky to have at least 1 guaranteed ruby in 8 hours quest, and while mercenary expected lifetime is 4 days it means I have to spend every ruby to revive that dead merc. What's the point of wasting time on such quests?

Maybe I should hire a new merc, spend all its lifetime for digging rubies and then hire another?

that is one way of doing it, the other one is to stay active and click the clickables as they appear.

It feels like clickables have some "rubies per day" limit. Because staying active for a long time I mostly get gold without rubies. While after leaving a game for 8 hours(I have to sleep) there is a bigger chance to get ruby from clickable. Or maybe I'm just lucky :)

The most efficient way to farm rubies is to let a script do it for you, like this one:

Running this for 24 hours should get you around 136 rubies if you have Revolc maxed out, more if you have relics further boosting him. Of course you won't have any idle bonus this way.

Dont know how that script works, but clicking directly on a clickable item does not interrupt idle mode.

EDIT: Ok, I've looked through its program code. It just clicks in 6 predefined places witout detecting any clickable item on the screen :(

I know. But in this script I just let it loop through all of the positions that clickables can spawn at. The script clicks even if there is no clickable since it doesn't know if there is one or not, therefore it interrupts idle.

It would theoretically be possible to add a simple form of image recognition, so that clicks are only being made if there actually is a clickable. But I honestly don't think that is worth the effort.

Edit: well, you found out yourself while I was typing the explanation. :D

I guess something exists somewhere if you look hard enough.
Why stop at just clicking rubies why not use a script that also clicks the monster as well?
