Game is still "Running" when it's closed.

Ever since this afternoon, upon closing the game, it still shows up as "Running" in my steam library and i have to force quit steam in order to get it to close. I tried hitting "play" while it was in this state and it gave me the "failed to run - app already in use" error. Not sure what to do here.

Open Task Manager via Control+Shift+Escape. Go to the Processes tab, find Clicker Heroes.exe, click on it, then click on End Process.

Forgot to mention, having this issue on a Mac, so I've been using Force Quit.

Macs are very unfamiliar to me, so I don't know how to help you.

Though I just looked up some info about the equivalent of Task Manager on Macs, and apparently, Macs do have a Task Manager called Activity Monitor. I think it works in pretty much the same way as Windows's Task Manager, so just follow the same steps I described in my previous comment, though some buttons may have different names.

The Force Quit app on Mac should also work for fixing your issue. I have no idea how to prevent that issue from happening though. I hope I was helpful.

Unfortunately even closing it via the activity monitor is not fully closing it. It even disappears from the list but is still "running" in steam.

Does the problem persist after rebooting?

if it's still running open up terminal , and type "htop" fine ih in the list , note the the prosses number , then hit ctrl + c , the next comand will be to kill (the prosses number)

Sorry about necroing this thread. I had the same issue today and the solution for me was to close notepad which had save data open. Hope that helps anyone who has this problem.
