They mean nothing to me, pure gibberish. It's ruining my enjoyment of the game that I don't understand the numbers at all.
Yes I understand that at a certain point the numbers will become so insane that notations are necessary. But I'm taking about 196K.
Oh really, '&' is not a scientific notation? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I perfer my scientific notation to show up like it does in the game normally, like it used to, around e68.
So, yeah, currently, my Libertas is displaying a normal non-scientific number, but he's not up to the 100,000% range. :) Then again, since I have so many hero souls, I might as well just level him up to that range. :)
I don't think it was a good idea to warp the displays after a certain point, especially when you can read well over a million in the bar by the ancient.
Only when you get to a billion does that ancient display get a bit wonky. :)
Because of the very high numbers they except people to get quite fast they made the decision to use scientific notation .
And it's actually quite easy if you think about it, the eX just tells you how many 0 to add after the decimal.
So 1e5 would be 100 000, 5 zeroes after the number.
1.1e5 would be 110 000.
You just move the decimal the amount of spaces backwards :)
I find it easier the remembering what #,&,@ etc stands for tbh :P
Pretty much what I meant. Those symbols ain't scientific nor the correct abbreviations, but just arbitrary random symbols.
Especially for small numbers.
Perhaps in college, I would have learned the remainder.
But I live in America, land of the Imperial system.
There is still no doubt that the scientific notation nerds were at the very least being mean to the normal people here.
I mean no disrespect Sax, but look at what the scientific notation people were doing, compared to the normal people. They came across as being mean.
The Pug was the only one I saw that wasn't remotely mean.
We're talking about the ancients here, anyway. Not any other section of the game.
Ancients didn't need scientific notation for their display until the numbers they dealt with went well over 1 billion.
i heard about fantasy units, silly time and date notation, stupid way to note groups of 3 digits, and any kind of weird things inherited from the brits that clog the american (ie global) culture.... but a notation of numbers that is not the decimal arabian numbers? what? roman numerals? are they so retarded?
tbh, what they call scientific notation is not even the official, international one , its still a brit interpretation of it. the real notation is x10^y, and e has nothing to do with it its a special number in logarythmic ♥♥♥♥ that i dont even remember exactly what it does.
so, you should be thankful, you have your inefficient imperial system anyway.
seriously. if you cant understand that notation, how are you supposed to understand anything. its useless anyway, just see it get bigger, no? oh god.
e in sci. not. is just an abbreviation for 10^, E is probably more commonly used than e
The other e is euler's number,2.7182818 which is completely different and off-topic
And yes any person should have atleast a basic comprehension of sci.not from being exposed to it any basic physics/chem(and probably math) class
I've said now multiple times, I only learned scientific notation for numbers that deserve scientific notation.
I.e. Anything that is a pain in the ass to write out.
The fact remains, the scientific notation in this game should only apply when the numbers make sense to use them on.
150,000% is not a valid usage for scientific notation.
Nor is any number under 10 quadrillion written out.
The only advantage scientific notation has in this game, unlike real life, which it has a ton of advantages, is to display the numbers more easily once they get problematic to come up with symbols for.
I didn't really expect that my words were that damn difficult to understand according to the rules of the English Language.
I apologize.
Having the game force scientific notation from nearly the damn beginning for ancient values is a pain in the ass and makes literally no sense at all.
What is even the point of displaying Ancients power in scientific notation until the point where it wraps around the damn screen from displaying too many zeros.
There is literally none. Zero. Not even one advantage. All it does is force people to learn earlier forms of the scientific notations that will be completely useless in real life, and completely useless for this game to register.
Anyone who can't do math would have been stumped by this game long before the number 150,000 gets turned into some hideous mockery of the scientific notation system which has always and will always apply to very large numbers, not tiny ones.
Scientists do not write out in a lab 10e4 ever!
Literally no scientist is that lazy to not write out 10,000 ever. Or 100,000. Or even a million.
Also, the Imperial System was created by the British empire. You have them to blame for it.
Seriously, the entire point was for the ancient system display not to go pull this scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAKG-kbKeIo
and display scientific notation for numbers where it makes literally no sense to display them for.
Show me one person on the planet Earth who thinks 10e5% is a better display than 100,000%, and no, no one in this discussion counts for obvious biased as hell reasons.
