Ascending at high level zones

After transcending i am now reaching higher zones than ever before, but now that i am around zone 4500 i am starting to dread ascending since it takes forever to get back up there, litterally hours of just waiting to progress through those first few thousand floors where you get very little of anything. I cant even begin to imagine what it must be like at zone 10,000 or 20,000. I understand this game takes loads of time but is there really nothing else to do while waiting around in the low level zones?

Almost nothing to do, actually. Though that's only checking the game once in a while and level up heroes. And with offline progression, you can level up your heroes, close the game and do something else for a bit.

Two monitors, wireless mouse, sit in bed watching YouTube videos with one monitor, clicker Heroes on the other just keep smashing 25 levels on your best until you need to ascend again.

I try and keep all the rangers as high level as possible, should i only level up Wepwawet to max and leave the other rangers at 100, pretty much all my gilds are on him now except for a few on Betty and Midas but i am not even sure if their dps matters much?

Once you buy Wepwawet's last upgrade, Midas is better until you get Wepwawet to level 5000, in which case Midas and Wepwawet have roughly the same cost-efficiency. But once Wepwawet is at level 6000 or higher, it becomes the best hero. Midas can help you get a level 6000 Wepwawet a bit more easily.

Unless you have a ranger as your gilded hero, you don't need to level the rangers at all. They only offer self-DPS boosts.
