Help with gilding/de-gilding

I play using only the Idle build, I only buy the heroes that give DPS multipliers and the Samurai. But I think I've it a wall, I can't go past zone 2850. In this current run I'm getting Samurai to level 7000 and I'm feeling that it's not efficient anymore, but I'm no hardcore player, I just like to leave the game open doing it's thing while I do my things and when the progress seems stunted I ascend, I know it isn't the better way to play, but that's how I do it.

I'm considering re-gilding to Atlas, I've read the guides but one thing I don't understand is: will I be shifting gilds back and forth between Samurai and Atlas and later between Samurai and the next ranger or between Atlas and the next ranger? Or I just re-gild to Atlas and move forward with my gilds. I'd appreciate some help, thanks.

Judging from the level of your Samurai, I think that, by that point, you should have almost all gilds on Astraea and one gild on Lilin. From there, you just move your gilds to the next ranger once it reaches level 1000. As in, once the ranger after Astraea reaches level 1000, it becomes the most efficient one.

What Froggy said is also good advice.

Thanks for the advice, I had a little trouble understanding the Transitionals, but I think I've got the picture now.

If you're stuck, it's most likely due to improper gilding(or you haven't transcended yet, which is something you should do ASAP), but no sweat, we've all been there and this is one way to solve it. Some may recommend that you put a few gilds here and there, but that's very inefficient use of your time(since it'd require a lot of reading how to put the gilds efficiently).

Instead I recommend that you put all gilds into the next ranger unlocked. The rangers has a x10 bonus every 1000 levels up to 8000(if I remember this correctly). If you want to play optimally, you'd have to switch between rangers often(between every 1000 levels). Early on when you cannot afford to spend the HS, it's better to put all gilds into the newest ranger unlocked.

If you can get to a ranger(those with 450% damage bonus), without spending extra time, then that's probably the hero you want to gild. So it's usually Masked Samurai, Dread Knight and Cadmia. Personally I skip the Masked Samurai. Once you reach Cadmia fairly easy(without painful grinding), you can leave your gilds there. It's a good middle point between the weaker and the more powerful heroes.

I want to play optimally indeed. Thanks for the links. I use only this calculator https://kepow.org/clickerheroes/ to allocate the Hero Souls and for the rest I don't do much, just let the game do its thing, but I've got the feeling that I needed to learn about gilding/re-gilding to progress further.

Yes, I use that too, but that one is for HS allocation. The one I posted is for AS allocation, it's for your outsiders. It starts at 30AS and goes up to 200. Remember to check at the top of the spreadsheet and you'll be able to choose between idle, hybrid and active.
