Sorry not exactly following what you're asking.
I am just going to animate the sprite one time at one size (96 x 136). So I will make a walk animation, as well as my battle actions, all at the 96x136 size.
Then I will use that size directly as is for my battler.
Then I will reduce that sprite 50% (48 x 68 which is just a slightly taller sprite than standard) to use on map.

Then when i reduce that by 50% for the map sprite it just scales perfectly and my 2x2 pixel (if you will) now truly equals 1x1 pixel on my newly created (reduced) map sprite.
More to your point, when I like raise my guys arm or something it's just going to have a lot less detail and be a touch more abstract, so not quite as taxing... and I am not dealing with fantasy elements for this concept so mostly humanoids.
I am trying to ease my design load to save room for things I want to do like dynamically showing the clothing a character has equipped on the sprite in game.
P.S.
Nice work!
Thank-you. No jealousy here but as if I would like vaccation from giants; humanoids, keep at them. (althought we might need more crazies like me to have a wider battling menagerie on every size. Oh dear I got a scary idea... might need to recruit!)
Good luck! I am certain you are all equipped and have your head well screwed up your shoulders now. You are safe!
Ha! I appreciate that but disagree. I will be crying out to you for more insight soon enough, be afraid.
