Seeking Sprite Sheet Formatting for a Beginner
Hi steam. I've just gotten through learning the program and figuring out all the basics, now I'm trying to make my own sprites for a game. I understand sprite sheets in theory, but I can't seem to get RPG maker to read the files properly and select the correct portion of the sheet for my sprite. Any advice/videos/posts you could give me are appreciated!

For each character on the sheet, there are 4 rows (one for each direction) and 3 columns of animation. If the sheet is only a single character, use a $ in front of its filename. The character size will be 1/3 the file's width and 1/4 the file's height.

On a normal sheet of characters, there are 2 rows of 4 characters. The program will assume that the character sprite's width is 1/12 of the file's and its height is 1/8 of the file's.

You can find info useful for custom assets in the Help, under "Asset Standards".
